Division II
AMHERST – When teams are as evenly matched as the Souhegan and Bedford high school girls basketball teams were Tuesday night, the outcome comes down to one intangible that gives either side an edge. For the Sabers, it was their experience.
Division I
Steve Cuipa of Bishop Guertin High School and Mike Luks from Souhegan High School are both among the five finalists for the WGAM Friday Night Lights Mr. Football award, which recognizes the top football player from New Hampshire.
Division III-IV
The Souhegan High School football team had 16 players from this year's championship team earn Division III all-state honors, including nine who were named to the first-team.
Division I
Jeff LaCoste won every high school cross country race he ran in New Hampshire this season. The Bishop Guertin senior was rewarded for his efforts with a spot on the Division I boys all-state team.
Division I
Both the Wilton-Lyndeborough and Bedford high school boys soccer teams had two players each named to their respective all-state first teams.
Division I
Seven area athletes were named to the girls soccer first-team of their respective divisions, including three members of the Hollis/Brookline High School team.
Division III-IV
Eric Hahn had one goal going into this season, to be a guy the coaching staff could count when it needed him. But the senior was more than that for the Souhegan High School football team.
Division III-IV
The Souhegan High School football team already had won championships before winning the Division III title last Saturday. But now the Sabers have “The Drive of the Decade.”
Division I
Both the Bishop Guertin and Souhegan high school football teams a third straight championship on Saturday, but for both it was a lot closer than the previous two.
Division III-IV
It’s the most likely of championship games. Or is it? Yes, it will be three Division III title games in a row between the high school football teams from Souhegan and Portsmouth when the two meet on Saturday in Amherst.
Division I
The Souhegan High School football team withstood a strong performance from a Hollis/Brookline group making its first postseason appearance Saturday to advance to the Division III championship game for the fourth year in a row.
Division III-IV
History will be made Saturday when the Hollis/Brookline High School football team takes the field for the first playoff game in the program’s history.
