The high school softball teams from Alvirne, Bedford and Wilton-Lyndeborough are among nine area teams to make the postseason, and all three are seeded second or better in their respective divisions.

Sam Broderick pitched a no-hitter and had two RBIs to lead the Wilton-Lyndeborough softball team to a 2-0 win over Lin-Wood on April 14.

Seventeen area high school boys basketball players received all-state honors from the NHBCO, including seven who were named to their respective first-teams. Milford coach Dan Murray was selected as the Division II Coach of the Year and two of his players - Mike O'Loughlin and Jamie Holder

Over a dozen local players were selected to the NHBCO girls basketball all-state teams Sunday, including four who were named to the first-team of their respective divisions. Also earning honors was Campbell coach Sean Flynn, who was named the Division III Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars

The Wilton-Lyndeborough boys basketball team stayed with top-seeded Newmarket, but the Mules made their free throws down the stretch to beat the Warriors 54-46 in the Division IV quarterfinals.

The big question for this week: Can the Milford High School scoreboard go up to triple digits? It might need to on both sides on Tuesday night, when the Spartans host the high-scoring Goffstown boys basketball team. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

WILTON – Sean Young was pleased with the performance of his Wilton-Lyndeborough boys basketball team Monday night against Derryfield. Well, as pleased as a coach could be when his team loses a nine-point third quarter lead to a team that had lost only once in Division IV this season.
