Wrestling champions crowned in D1 and 2

A total of four local wrestlers picked up division titles on Saturday at the Division I and II championship meets.

In Division I, Nashua High School South's Tyler Ellwood was the lone champion, beating Nashua North's Joey Page in the final at 152 pounds. Those two are among the 20 wrestlers from South, North and Bishop Guertin who will head to the Meet of Champions on Feb. 26.

Timberlane finished first in Division I, winning its 12th straight title, while Nick Lawrence's win in the 171 class gave him four division titles in four years, just the fourth wrestler in state history to achieve that.

In Division II, Hollis/Brookline was the top local finisher, coming in behind first-place Goffstown and second-place Winnacunnet. The Cavaliers also had two champions - Zach McPherson at 103 and Casey Quinn at 160. Merrimack's Tyler Baulier also took home the title at 215.

A total of 19 local wrestlers from Division II will head to next week's Meet of Champions.
