West gets double OT win over East in CHaD All-Star Football Game (video)

GOFFSTOWN - Chris Messmore kicked a 22-yard field goal to end West's second overtime drive and the defense held East on its final possession to take a 13-10 win Friday night in the CHaD East-West NH All-Star Football Game.

Messmore (Bishop Brady), who also had a 35-yard field goal to end the first half, had a kicked blocked on West's first drive, but bounced back to give his side the winning score in the 11th game in the series at Saint Anselm College.

Reimello Hyde (Merrimack) added a 1-yard rushing touchdown, as he ran for 76 yards on 16 carries, and Matt Santosuosso (Bishop Guertin) had 106 yards on 22 attempts on the ground. He was also 8 of 19 passing for 84 yards and two interceptions.

Drew Heenan (Londonderry) led East, going 10 of 21 for 172 yards, including a touchdown pass to Andrew Kullman (Londonderry), who finished with seven catches for 153 yards and a score.

West's Toby Brown. Jr., was named the Bo Dickson MVP after he finished the night with five tackles, three for loss, including a sack of Heenan late in regulation that forced East to turn the ball over on downs.

The game was scoreless after a quarter, but on the first play of the second, Ethan Moss (Exeter) kicked a 22-yard field goal to give East a 3-0 lead just three seconds into the frame.

East looked like it went up 10-0 late in the half, when Heenan hit Brett Davis (Dover) with for a 21-yard touchdown on fourth-and-6, but the play was called back on a hold. Heenan couldn't connect with Kullman on the next play and West took over at its 34 with 55 seconds left.

West took advantage, driving down to the East 18-yard line, thanks in part to a personal foul for a late hit that gave West a first down on the East 31. Messmore connected on a 35-yard field goal as time expired in the half to tie it at 3.

West opened the second half with a 16-play drive that got it down to the East 14, but on fourth-and-3, West elected to go for it and Hyde was stopped for a 1-yard loss.

Hyde gave West its first lead on its first drive of the fourth quarter, capping a nine-play, 57-yard drive with a touchdown to make it 10-3 with 10:34 remaining.

Heenan and East would answer two possessions later, as a short punt by West gave East the ball at the West 48. Five plays later, on fourth-and-8, Heenan and Kullman teamed up for a 20-yard touchdown to tie it at 10 with 3:44 to play.

West's defense came up with a stop on East's possession to start overtime, and on second down, West elected to try a field goal. The kick by Messmore was low and the East line blocked it to send the game to a second OT.

After Messmore put West in front with his kick, East was forced to go for a 32-yard field goal, but the kick by Moss was wide to the left.
