Welcome to the new NHHSSports

Yeah, OK, so maybe that's a little dramtic, using a song about a guy's divorce as the way to do this.

But whenever I think about things changing, I can't help but hear Ozzy wail the line "I'm going through changes." It's kind of gut-wrenching (or if you really want gut-wrenching, listen to the cover by Charles Bradley. Just get something to dry your eyes first).

Unless you're new here - and if so, welcome! - you can see that the site has gone through some changes of its own since the end of the last school year.

After 16-plus years of having this site on WordPress, I decided to move it over to Ghost.

It was not a decision I made overnight. In fact, I've been thinking about for a few years, ever since it was suggested by the friend who helped me set up the site back in 2010. At the time he mentioned it, it was more an expression of regret, like "I wish this had existed back then ..."

My biggest fear in making any changes to the site was always the possibility of losing the archives. One of my reasons for starting it was to have a place where New Hampshire high school sports fans (and reporters) could go back to look up results, records, standings, playoffs, etc.

If I was to guess, I'd say I probably use it as much as anyone else, especially now that it's existed for as long as it has.

Over the last couple of years, that fear of losing all that history began to be outweighed by problems that were happening behind the scences. While I could keep the site running on the editorial end, I am not a very tech saavy person, and have since lost contact with that friend who would assist when an emergency popped up.

So I needed something that could come a little closer to running itself, and hopefully, that will be the case here in the long run. And if you've taken any time to poke around the site, you'll see that every post has made the trip here with me.

There are still a few things that need to be worked out. For example, you might have noticed that the forms to "contact us" or "submitt results" are gone. That will be something I work on down the road, but for the time being, you can always connect by email at nhhighschoolsports@gmail.com.

The other big change is with the memberships, which are for now in three tiers.

First, there is the Sports Insider Fanatic tier, which is free. While anyone who comes to the site will still have access to the things they've always had (roundups, previews, coaches polls, etc.), signing up will get you on the list for the newsletter now associated with it. So that means when those scores get posted, you'll have a notification in your email that they're up.

Next, there is the Sports Insider All-State tier, which has a monthly or a yearly fee. This gives you access to everything posted on the site. So you will be able to read all the features, profiles, analysis, game stories, etc., that end up posted on the site. Again, there is a newsletter associated with this that will alert you to when new posts are up.

And finally, there is the Sports Insider Lacrosse Membership tier, which also has a monthly or yearly fee. Signing up to this will give you access to all of the lacrosse coverage posted on the site throughout the year. And yes, I do mean the year, as I am going to be continuing lacrosse coverage year-round. What exactly that will look like is going to vary depending on time of the year, but for now, it means a weekly post with the latest goings on in New Hampshire lacrosse.

Like with anything new, I'm sure there will be some kinks to work out in the near future. If something is going wrong, please let me know as soon as you can so I can get on it as soon as I can.
