HUDSON - Emily Blad scored the game's only goal in the fifth minute and the No. 5 Coe-Brown Academy girls soccer team defeated No. 4 Alvirne 1-0 in the Division II quarterfinals on Saturday.

The win sends the Bears to the semifinals for the first time in team history. Alexandra Savioli made 11 saves to earn the shutout for Coe-Brown, while Alvirne's Sammi Giannelli made 10 saves for the Broncos.
