Senior co-captains Sydney Herrington and Mary Anne Wiley and sophomore linemate Lauren Trippiedi combined for all four Bishop Brady-Trinity-West goals. The three were on the ice for nearly the entire game. Herrington, who also spent time on defense, scored twice and had an assist. Wiley registered a goal and two assists. Trippiedi finished with a goal and an assist. “We have a good passing routine,” Wiley said of she and her linemates. “We always look for the upward pass and I think all of us have pretty good shots so we just try to go backdoor passes and just if you have a shot, screen the net.” Wiley, Herrington and Trippiedi have skated together since last season, which has given them plenty of time to learn how to play to each other’s strengths. “I think last year we were pretty good but this year I feel like we’re a lot better because we’re just used to each other,” Wiley said. Wiley broke a 1-1 deadlock six minutes into the second period when she put home a backdoor goal off a feed from Trippiedi. Trippiedi scored what proved to be the game-winning goal 3:24 into the third period, just eight seconds into a Bishop Brady-Trinity-West power play. Herrington gave her team a 4-1 advantage with 2:31 remaining after stealing the puck in her defensive zone, skating up the ice and beating Concord goaltender Abby Corbett (28 saves). Bishop Brady-Trinity-West (11-1-1) dashed the Crimson Tide’s hopes of taking a one-goal lead into the first intermission late in the opening period. Herrington skated around a Concord defender toward the goal before beating Corbett glove side with 1:03 left in the first period to knot the score at 1-1. Concord (6-7) opened the game’s scoring 6:23 into the contest when an Emily Forward shot bounced off Bishop Brady-Trinity-West freshman netminder Emily Senko, over her head and into the back of the net. Nicole Jones assisted on Forward’s tally. The Crimson Tide tested Senko (12 saves) in the third period and were rewarded with Maggie Connolly’s goal from the high slot that came with two minutes left. Concord was forced to defend its own zone for long stretches but did generate some timely transition opportunities and offensive-zone time. Crimson Tide coach Patrick McDonough said defensive play is his team’s strength. Friday’s contest showed that the Crimson Tide can skate with one of the division’s top teams in Bishop Brady-Trinity-West, McDonough said. “This was a good game for us - a good opportunity to kind of see where we are with the rest of the league,” McDonough said. Bishop Brady-Trinity-West outshot Concord, 22-11, over the opening two periods and 32-14 overall. Bishop Brady-Trinity-West will not have to wait long for another chance to beat its rival. The teams will meet again Monday at Tri-Town Ice Arena in Hooksett. “Hopefully, we’ll just come in strong because we know what we’re up against now,” Wiley said. “(We’ll) just get a lot of shots, hopefully, and just keep scoring, keep the rhythm going.”
