After missing out on the 2020 season, it felt like any game from this year could be included on this list, just because of how good it felt to be back on the field.

Alas, the list is limited to five games from the 2021 season that we covered. So while there were some tremendous regular-season and playoff games that took place this year, the ones that made the cut were the ones we saw firsthand.

### No. 5: Londonderry 14, Pinkerton 10

Up by a goal at halftime, Londonderry went on a 6-1 run in the second half and held off Pinkerton down the stretch, as the Lancers got their first win over Pinkerton since 2017.

### No. 4: Souhegan 11, Londonderry 10

After falling behind early, Londonderry came back to take a lead at halftime and went up by three goals with just over 16 minutes remaining. But the Lancers wouldn't score again, as Souhegan ended the game on a 4-0 run, getting the game-winning goal from Cali Bishop with 1:43 remaining in regulation.

### No. 3: Portsmouth 11, Souhegan 10 (OT)

Souhegan managed to stay a goal or two ahead of Portsmouth for most of the day, leading 10-8 with 6:30 to play. But two goals in the final five minutes for the Clippers helped force overtime, and after winning the draw, Mia Smith sent everyone home with her goal with 57 seconds remaining. The game also had the added bonus of being the first meeting as coaches for sisters JoJo Curro (Portsmouth) and McKinley Sbordone (Souhegan).

### No. 2: D1 Semifinals, Bishop Guertin 11, Bedford 9

It wasn't the first time Bishop Guertin trailed at halftime (it was the second), but it was more the way the Cardinals got there that was eye-opening. Bedford ended the first half on a 6-0 run to take a 7-5 lead into the break and led 8-6 before Bishop Guertin was able to take control of the game, going on a 5-0 run to retake the lead on the way to the D1 championship.

### No. 1: D2 Championship, Portsmouth 8, Hollis Brookline 7

Not only did this championship game come down to the end, the expectation coming in was that Portsmouth was a heavy favorite after dominating its D2 competition all season.

But a great defensive game plan by Hollis Brookline helped it take a three-goal lead early in the second half, and despite a comeback by the Clippers, the Cavaliers led 7-5 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game. A couple of calls against HB helped open the door for another Portsmouth rally, and this time, the Clippers came all the way back to win their fourth straight D2 title.
