Three basketball teams changing things up for holiday tournaments
Three boys basketball teams play musical chairs for holiday tournaments.
There will be a few new faces in different places when this season's holiday high school boys basketball tournaments get underway.
Hollis Brookline decided to leave the Chick-Fil-A Holiday Tournament, held at Nashua South, to play three games Portland, Maine, during the winter break.
Taking the Cavaliers place in Nashua will be Merrimack, which moves down from the Queen City Invitational Tournament, held at Manchester Memorial, which the Tomahawks had participated in for several years.
Merrimack joins South and Nashua North in the Chick-Fil-A tournament, along with Alvirne, Milford, Souhegan, Goffstown and Thornton Academy from Sacco, Maine. The tournament runs from Dec. 28-30.
Finally, Lebanon will take Merrimack's spot in the Queen City Invitational, which also includes Memorial, Manchester Central, Manchester West, Trinity, Bedford, Dover and Exeter. The tournament runs from Dec. 26-28.
A full list of holiday tournaments for boys and girls basketball, hockey and wrestling will be posted later this month.
