The high school softball teams from White Mountains, Coe-Brown and Timberlane all have something in common.

They've each played for a championship in recent years, and all are contenders to do so again this year. They're also among the top ranked teams in the state.

Below are rankings of all softball teams in each division, along with the top 20 teams in the state, regardless of division. How were the teams ranked? By using the Heal Point System, the process used in Maine to rank teams, which was used in New Hampshire for all Class I team during the 2009-2010 school year. For more on how the rankings were compiled, go here.

As with any ranking system, there are flaws. For example, the HPS doesn’t take into consideration margin of victory or quality of a loss. It does, however, rank based on number of wins and the quality of those wins.

Here are the rankings.
