# The top 15 boys lacrosse teams in the Granite State (Week 4)

Bedford and Goffstown are both among the top 15 boys lacrosse teams in the state.

With the high school spring sports season past the halfway point, the teams that were expected to be at the top of the boys lacrosse standings are right there. Who is else is there with them as the fourth week of the season comes to a close?

Below are rankings of all boys lacrosse teams in each division, along with the top 15 teams in the state, regardless of division. How were the teams ranked? By using the Heal Point System, the process used in Maine to rank teams, which was used in New Hampshire for all Class I team during the 2009-2010 school year. As with any ranking system, there are flaws. For example, the HPS doesn’t take into consideration margin of victory or quality of a loss. It does, however, rank based on number of wins and the quality of those wins.

Here are the rankings.

## New Hampshire Top 15

1. Bedford (10-0), Division II, 189.0
2. Bishop Guertin (10-0), Division I, 178.0
3. Hollis Brookline (6-0), Division III, 132.0
4. Pinkerton (8-3), Division I, 107.0
5. Exeter (6-3), Division I, 102.0
6. St. Thomas (6-0), Division II, 101.0
7. Derryfield (9-0), Division III, 100.0
8. Plymouth (7-0), Division III, 98.0
9. Goffstown (6-1), Division II, 93.0

So how does Bishop Guertin, a team that many would pick as the No. 1 team in the state, end up ranked behind Bedford, a team those same people would likely have as a No. 2? While the Cardinals have a lot of wins over some tough out-of-state opponents, their wins over the bottom of Division I drag their rating down. Meanwhile, Bedford has beaten some strong Division I teams, and will play the bottom of Division II a lot more down the stretch. By the end of the season, things should even out.

The same is the case in Division III, where Hollis Brookline is at the moment ahead of other unbeatens Derryfield and Plymouth. The Cavaliers have played a stronger schedule to this point, but unlike Bedford and Bishop Guertin, HB and Derryfield will go head-to-head on May 20.
