BEDFORD - Though its only two weeks into the season, there seems to be no stopping Ryan Toscano.

After his dominant opening-night performance against Nashua North, the Bedford High School senior running back was at it again Friday night, playing an integral part in the Bulldogs 44-3 win over Concord.

Toscano shredded the Crimson Tide defense in a fashion that would make even the most polished runners jealous. By halftime, his stat line read like something that you would only see in a video game, as Toscano rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns, while adding one reception for 14 yards.

The senior running back looked smooth hitting holes opened up by his dominant offensive line, but he wasn't afraid to lower the pads and bulldoze his way through defenders when necessary. By the final whistle, Toscano had turned in a truly complete performance, as he finished the game with 153 yards on 15 carries, good for 10.2 yards per rushing attempt. He also chipped in on the receiving end, adding two receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown.

Bedford (2-0) also got a big game from quarterback Thomas Morgan, as he completed 10 of 14 passes for 111 yards through the air, while also adding both a passing and rushing touchdown. Kicker Madison Lucontoni also added a 27-yard field goal and converted all four of her extra-point attempts in the win.

The Bulldogs defense turned in a commanding performance on its side of the ball as well, led by linebacker Andrew Twite, who recorded 2.5 sacks and a tackle for loss, and cornerback Lucien Mumpini, who had a two pass deflection and one interception, the defense dominated the Crimson Tide offense for all four quarters.

Playing a fast and tenacious style of defense, the unit set the tone early in the first quarter by forcing the Crimson Tide offense to three straight three-and-outs. Tide Quarterback Zachary Miles often found himself scrambling as the Bulldogs defensive line pushed around the Tide offensive lineman.

Several running plays were blown up in the backfield thanks to immense pressure by Twite and defensive end Christian Bourgeois, who also added a sack and tackle for loss of his own in the game. The smothering Bulldogs defense would not allow the Tide to score until late in the fourth quarter. Concords only points of the night would come on a 34-yard field goal by Nathan Vandersea with 44 seconds to go in the game.

Bedford will look to remain undefeated on Sept. 14, when it hosts Goffstown, while Concord will take on Bishop Guertin.
