Spaulding still looking for a football coach

Spaulding High School has reopened its search for a new football coach, a month after declaring it closed after receiving 12 applications.

But all of those applications were from teachers looking for a teaching position as well as the head coaching positions.

According to Spaulding athletic director Kevin Hebert its too early in the year to determine what openings there might be at the end of the school year.

The football coaching position was reopend last week, with an application deadline of March 25.

Joe Benham stepped down in December after leading Spaulding to a 1-10 record in his only season as the Red Raiders coach. Since the start of the 1998 season, Spaulding has gone 28-107, with one winning season in 2006. That year the Red Raiders were 6-5 and lost in the Division II semifinals to Exeter.
