# Spartans lead locals at D2 girls track meet

The Milford High School girls track team entered Sunday's Division II indoor track championship with the hopes of winning a second title in three years.

Despite some strong efforts, the Spartans came up short.

Lebanon won its second straight title and its fourth in seven years, recording 58 points to finish ahead of Portsmouth (33) and Merrimack Valley (32). Oyster River took fourth with 31 points and Milford was fifth with 30.

Souhegan came in ninth with 22 points and Bedford was 10th with 20\. Hollis/Brookline finished with six points to place 19th.

Milford's Courtney Hawkins won the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 5 minutes, 0.69 seconds, and she also teamed with Dina Pitsas, Cassandra Wright and Hannah Ladeau to take first in the 4x800 relay (10:02.69). Jessica Kraft finished fifth in the 300 with a time of 43.61 while Sarah Martineau was fifth in the high jump at 4-10.

Krafft, Rachel Gray, Rachel White and Cassie Sebas also took third in the 4x200 relay (1:52.77), but the Spartans' 4x400 relay team was disqualified.

Isabella Stuopis was the top finisher for Souhegan, coming in second in the shot put at 39-10 3/4, while Angela Blume came in third in the 600 (1:41.85). Blume also joined Sarah Hurd, Katharine Tebbetts and Raleigh McElvery to finish third in the 4x800 relay (10:11.46) while Kelsey Knight, Courtney Hopp, Jade Humphreys and Taylor Behn finished third in the 4x200 relay (1:53.86).

Bedford got a second-place finish from Jenny Mara in the high jump (5-4) and Johanna Celli took fifth in the 55 (7.7). Angela Celli, Johanna Celli, Jenny Mara and Brenna Williams placed third in the 4x400 relay (4:20.21) and the team of Rachael Lowney, Hannah Zeltner, Aleah McKay and Lauren Brodeur was fourth in the 4x800 relay (10:14.18).

Meghan Philpot was the lone scorer for Hollis/Brookline, finishing third in the 3,000 in 11:06.
