Souhegan, Milford trying to stay near the top

A year ago, the Souhegan High School boys track team won its first indoor title on the legs of Michael Peret.

This year, if the Sabers are to challenge for the Division II championship, it will be much more of a team effort.

Souhegan is seeded in the top three of all three relays, and has more than a half dozen athletes qualified in a handful of events.

Milford was hoping to challenge for the title this year, but a handful of injuries have limited the Spartans this season. But they still have athletes in several events, including Max Goudreau, who will compete in four of them.

The championship meet is scheduled for Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Dartmouth College. Following is a complete list of local qualifiers for Sunday’s Division II boys meet:

Bedford

• Dylan York, soph. - seeded 19th in the 55,
• Mike Cambria, sr. - seeded eighth in the 1,000.
• Kindell Benten, sr. - seeded ninth in the 55 hurdles.
• Timothy Miller, soph. - seeded 15th in the high jump.
• Joseph Thibeault, soph. - seeded first in the shot put.
• Justin Rooney, sr. - seeded third in the shot put.
• Andy Lalonde, soph. - seeded 11th in the shot put.

• Connor Jackson, sr. - seeded second in the 1,000, fourth in the 1,500 and sixth in the 3,000.
