Souhegan girls open with a win over Milford

The Souhegan High School girls tennis team picked up a win in its season opener, besting Milford 8-1 at Keyes Field.

Emily Readdy of Souhegan defeated Bruna Ferraz, 8-0, in the No. 1 singles match, while the Sabers' Alex Silva topped Sarah Gautier, 8-0, at No. 2. Readdy and Silva also teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles over Ferraz and Halley Bonczar, 8-1.

Bonczar also lost to Emily Parrett, 8-1, in the No. 3 singles match. Souhegan's Caroline Hagen defeated Karey Lundstedt, 8-1, to win the No. 5 match and teammate Maura Belanger beat Mary Beth Sareault, 8-4, to win the No. 6 match.

Milford's Kelly Sareault had the Spartans' lone win, beating Mia Ommundsen, 9-8 (7-5), in the No. 4 singles match.

Parrett and Ommundsen topped Kelly Sareault and Gautier, 8-1, in the No. 2 doubles match while Belanger and Rebecca Trouwee defeated Mary Beth Sareault and Lundstedt, 8-3, at No. 3.
