NASHUA - The Nashua High School North boys lacrosse team is officially in uncharted waters.

With Monday's 17-8 win over Nashua South, the Titans swept their biggest rivals for the first time in program history, and got to nine wins for the first time. They followed that up with an 18-14 win over Austin Prep (Reading, Mass.) on Wednesday to get to 10 win on the season.

Nashua North's Christian Filonow passes the ball during Monday's game.

And if North (10-4) can win at least one of its final two games against Pinkerton and Londonderry next week, the Titans would end up with a home playoff game for the first time.

"This is a season of firsts for the North lacrosse program," Titans coach Keith Bertrand said. "It's the first time we've ever beat South twice in a single season, and these seniors, it's the first class to leave with a winning record against South. It's a lot to be proud of."

Bertrand knows a thing or two about making history, as he was a part of the unified Nashua team that handed Pinkerton its first in-state loss in the 1998 Division I championship game.

And the coach knows that once the playoffs start, what happened during the regular season doesn't mean much.

"I'm not going to lie to anybody, we haven't played the schedule of Exeter or BG or Hanover, but we also understand that we need to win the games we can win," Bertrand said. "When it comes down to playoffs, it doesn't matter who you played all season, it only matters who is the best team that day."

The Titans appear to be getting closer to their best at the right time, and Monday's game was a step in the right direction. For one of the few times this season, North's offense and defense appeared to be playing at the same level.

"We were making the right plays," Bertrand said. "Everything seemed to click. We've never had a game where our offense played well and our defense played well, and I think we're starting to put it together at the right time."

North heads to Derry on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start against Pinkerton (12-3), and the Titans return to Stellos Stadium on Wednesday to face Londonderry (8-5) at 4 p.m.
