Sabers come in second in passing tournament

Members of the Souhegan High School football team competed in the Bates College Annual Pinetree Shootout 7-on-7 Passing Tournament last weekend. The Sabers were one of a dozen teams, and the only one from New Hampshire, and finished second to Wells High School.

Members of the Souhegan High School football team competed in the Bates College Annual Pinetree Shootout 7-on-7 Passing Tournament last weekend. The Sabers were one of a dozen teams, and the only one from New Hampshire, and finished second to Wells High School.

Quarterbacks Rob McCormick and Tyler Ford both completed over 80 percent of their passes and several long touchdowns. Receivers Tim Beliveau and Chris Chininis each had more than 25 receptions, with Beliveau catching eight touchdowns. Denny Desserault and Alex Hansis also performed well with the offense.

The defense got strong performances from its linebackers, along with cornerback Keddy Bautista and Chininis at free safety.

In the final, Souhegan fell to Wells by a score of 36-34.
