Here's a game-by-game look at what happened Friday and Saturday at the Coaches For A Cause boys basketball jamboree, held at Alvirne High School. **Salem 67, Windham 64** The Blue Devils jumped out early in the first game on Friday, taking a 16-6 lead with 3:34 left in the first quarter. Windham led by six at halftime and maintained that lead for most of third quarter but Salem outscored the Jaguars 18-10 over a seven-minute stretch to take a 52-51 lead with 6:30 left in the game. After three free throws by David Carbonello, Windham led 64-60 with 2:10 to play, but Salem got back-to-back layups from Brent Barrett and Timothy Dodier to take a 65-64 lead. Two free throws by Danny Nugent with eight seconds left sealed the win for the Blue Devils. Barrett led Salem with 20 points and Dodier added 14, while Windham got 18 points from Carbonello and another 15 from Andrew Lowman. **Bishop Brady 84, Bishop Guertin 83 OT** Bishop Guertin led by as many as 10 in the first half, but the teams traded the lead six times in the fourth quarter, including twice in the final 90 seconds of regulation. The Giants were up 71-67 after a layup by Jourdain Bell with 1:38 to play, but the Cardinals answered on John Noon's 3-pointer 16 seconds later. Up one with 1:11 to go, Bishop Brady turned the ball over, leading to a layup by CJ Boykin that gave Bishop Guertin a 72-71 lead. Another Giants' turnover led to a layup by Kyle Gavin that gave the Cardinals a 74-71 lead with 34 seconds left. After a timeout, Bell converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 18 seconds left to tie the game and force overtime. The Giants scored the first seven points of overtime, but back-to-back layups by Noon and Boykin cut the lead to 83-80 with 27 seconds left. The Cardinals fouled Joe Bell with eight seconds to go and the younger Bell made the second free throw to make it a four-point game. Boykin's 3-pointer with five seconds left finished out the scoring. Jourdain Bell led all scorers with 39 points while Joe Bell added 20 for Bishop Brady. The Cardinals got 17 points from Joe Marandola while Boykin had 12 points. **Merrimack 68, Pelham 58** Eric Gendron scored 32 points to lead the Tomahawks to a comeback win over the Pythons in Friday's third and final game. Merrimack hit 10 3-pointers as a team, including four by Gendron, who scored his team's first five points in the fourth quarter to help turn a two-point deficit into a nine-point lead. Down two at halftime, Merrimack opened the second half with a 9-2 run to go up 42-37, but Pelham answered to take a 52-50 lead into the final quarter. The Tomahawks again went on a run, this time a 16-3 stretch to go up 66-55 with 3:00 to play. Shayne Bourque added 16 points for Merrimack, including two 3s, while Austin Franzen hit four 3-pointers for 12 points. Pelham got 22 points from sophomore Keith Brown and Jake Vaiknoras added 16 points, including three 3s. **Alvirne 84, Newport 54** The Broncos controlled the game from start to finish thanks to a dominating performance on the offensive glass. Alvirne had 12 second chance points in the first half and 16 of its 19 field goals in the first half were layups. Alvirne's Alex Wetmore scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half while Evan Hunt added 14 points and Andrew Wetmore was also in double figures with 10\. Spaulding led 47-33 when Lebanon took a timeout with 3:07 left in the third quarter. The Raiders came roaring out of the stoppage, going on a 14-1 run to close out the third quarter to cut the Red Raiders' lead to 48-47. A layup by Charlie Nevejans put Spaulding up three early in the fourth, but a 3-pointer by Sou tied the game. Spaulding went up 59-54 on two free throws by Darian Berry with 5:08 left, but Lebanon went on a 7-0 run to take its first lead with 3:34 left. Layups by Berry and Anthony Ciccotelli put Spaulding back ahead, 63-61, but a free throw by Lebanon's Martin Gradijan made it a one-point game. The Red Raiders turned the ball over on their next possession and Lebanon was able to get three offensive rebounds before Austin Whaley's jumper gave the Raiders a 64-63 lead with 23 seconds left. After each team took a timeout with 11 seconds to go, Nevejans was fouled by John Cioffredi with six seconds to go, but the Spaulding senior missed both free throws. After Cioffredi missed the front of a one-and-one at the other end, Berry had a chance to give the Red Raiders the win, but his halfcourt shot hit off the front of the rim. Berry finished with 20 points for Spaulding while Nevejans had 19 and Quinn Connelly had 10\. Lebanon got 22 from Sou, while Dom Morrill had 13 and Whaley and Austin Pelletier had eight apeice. **Bedford 65, Portsmouth 52** The Bulldogs got out to leads of 8-0 and 19-9 before the Clippers made it a four-point game with 6:24 left in the first half, but that was as close as it would get. Bedford took a 33-20 lead into halftime and led by as many as 20 in the second half. **Manchester Central 68, Conant 51** The Orioles kept things close for most of the first half, trailing by four in the second quarter, but the Little Green were too deep. Central led by eight at halftime and went up 50-33 with 2:25 left in the third quarter. Brett Hanson led Central with 37 points while Joey Martin had 15 points and Jon Martin added nine markers. Conant got 22 points from Robert O'Brien, who was 13 of 15 from the free throw line, while Eli Hodgson had 17 points, including 5 of 7 from the line. Conant went on a 10-4 run in the second quarter to cut a 10-point deficit to 35-31, but Central scored four unanswered points going into halftime and opened the third quarter with an 11-2 run. Pembroke was able to push that lead to 44-41 on a layup by Kafani Williams, but a free throw by Connor Walsh and a jumper by Brad Rhoades with 12 seconds led in the quarter tied the game at 44 going into the fourth. Three free throws by Carmen Giampetruzzi put Trinity ahead by three, a lead the Pioneers would not relinquish. A putback by Pembroke's Cameron Taylor made it 54-52 with 2:57 left, but baskets by Giampertruzzi and Rhoades pushed the lead to six and Trinity held on in the final 1:36 for the win. Giampetruzzi led the Pioneers with 18 points, going 10 of 12 from the free throw line, while Pat Keefe had 15 points, including 8 for 8 at the line. Rhoades added 13 points and Ryan Otis also had 10 for Trinity. Patrick Welch had a game-high 21 points, including five 3s, for Pembroke, but had just four points in the second half. Dominic Timbas added 13 for the Spartans. All proceeds from the jamboree went to benefit New Horizons, a soup kitchen, food pantry and emergency shelter in Manchester.
