Pelham's 12-0 win over ConVal put serious doubt into the Cougars chances at making the playoffs, while it opened the door for not only the Pythons, but also Kennett. All three teams would need to win out and get a lot of help from around the division to have a likely shot, but that's better than no shot at all. Meanwhile, two North Conference teams will be meeting in Bow in what amounts to a playoff game for both the Falcons and John Stark. Both sit at 5-1, but they both need a signature win to help improve their chances at the postseason. In the South, Pelham's game against Hollis Brookline has a bigger meaning than it did a week ago, as its a win-or-go-home game for the Pythons. And with Souhegan looming in the finale, the Cavaliers could really use a win over Pelham as insurance. Here's a look at what is at stake this week for the teams that are in contention for the postseason. ## Should be in ... ### Windham (6-0, 16.3333 rating) - Plays at Gilford-Belmont (1-6) on Saturday; hosts ConVal (4-2) on Oct. 28. - Current position: First place in the South Conference and No. 1 overall seed. - Windham has clinched a playoff spot regardless of what it does over its final two games, and will clinch the conference title and at worst the No. 2 seed with a win in one of its final two games. ### Plymouth (6-0, 14.3333) - Plays at Lebanon (1-5) on Friday; hosts Milford (2-4) on Oct. 28. - Current position: First place in the North Conference and No. 2 overall seed. - Plymouth is also in the postseason no matter what the Bobcats do in their final two games, and if they win them both, they'll wrapup the top seed in the conference. A loss in either game and two wins by Hanover would likely bump the Marauders past Plymouth. ### St. Thomas (6-1, 12.8571) - Plays at ConVal (4-2) on Friday; has a bye in Week 9. - Current position: Second place in the South Conference and No. 3 seed. - The Saints get their week off in the final week of the regular season, so Friday is their last chance to improve their playoff standing. A win would get St. Thomas a home game in the quarterfinals. ### Hanover (6-0, 12.0000) - Plays at Kennett (3-3) on Friday; plays at John Stark (5-1) on Oct. 28. - Current position: Second place in the North Conference and No. 4 seed. - The Marauders lock up a playoff spot for sure with a win in either of their final two games, and could climb up to the standings with two wins and a couple of losses by the teams above. ## Work to do ... ### Hollis Brookline (5-1, 11.3333) - Plays at Pelham (3-3) on Friday; hosts Souhegan (4-2) on Oct. 28. - Current position: Third place in the South Conference and No. 5 seed. - HB looks like it's got a playoff spot wrapped up, but that could change if the Cavaliers don't take care of business against Pelham. A win over the Pythons would likely clinch a playoff spot regardless of the finale against Souhegan, but a loss makes that a must-win. ### Bow (5-1, 10.3333) - Hosts John Stark (5-1) on Saturday; hosts Lebanon (1-5) on Oct. 28. - Current position: Third place in the North Conference and No. 6 seed. - The same goes for the Falcons. A win over John Stark would likely give Bow the rating boost it would need to clinch a playoff spot, while a loss would leave the Falcons with a must-win against Lebanon. ### Souhegan (4-2, 10.0000) - Hosts Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton (1-5) on Friday; plays at Hollis Brookline (5-1) on Oct. 28. - Current position: Fourth place in the South Conference and No. 7 seed. Wins tiebreaker with John Stark based on head-to-head victory. - Despite starting the season 1-2, the Sabers have been able to keep themselves in the postseason thanks to a season-opening win over John Stark. Whenever the Generals win, Souhegan benefits, however a loss to HD/H this week would be a near-fatal blow. ### John Stark (5-1, 10.0000) - Plays at Bow (5-1) on Saturday; hosts Hanover (6-0) on Oct. 28. - Current position: Fourth place in the North Conference and No. 8 seed. - The Generals have a chance to make a big jump up the standings with their final two games against opponents with higher ratings, and should get in with a win in either one. But if John Stark falters in both, it opens the door for ... ## Need some help ... ### ConVal (4-2, 8.3333) - Hosts St. Thomas (6-1) on Friday; plays at Windham (6-0) on Oct. 28. - Current position: Fifth place in the South Conference and outside of the playoffs. - A year ago, the Cougars were 6-1 going into the final two weeks, lost to St. Thomas and Windham, and missed the postseason. This year, ConVal was 4-0, and after a rash of injuries, the Cougars have dropped two in a row and another loss would mean another non-playoff season. Wins over the Saints and the Jaguars would likely rocket ConVal up the standings and into the postseason. ### Pelham (3-3, 7.0000) - Hosts Hollis Brookline (5-1) on Friday; plays at Manchester West (1-6) on Oct. 27. - Current position: Sixth place in the South Conference and outside of the playoffs. - Getting a win over the Cavs would be huge for Pelham in respects. Not only do they need the win to stay alive, but the opponents' points that would come with the win would be a big boost for the Pythons' rating. Having ConVal win one of its two final games would also help Pelham's rating without hurting its playoff chances. ### Kennett (3-3, 6.6667) - Hosts Hanover (6-0) on Friday; plays at Kingswood (0-6) on Oct. 27. - Current position: Fifth place in the North Conference and outside of the playoffs. - The Eagles only shot at the postseason is beating Hanover this week, and then following it up with a win over Kingswood next week. Kennett would also likely need help to reach the playoffs. **Eliminated:** Sanborn (2-4), Milford (2-4), Laconia (3-4), Lebanon (1-5), Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton (1-5), Gilford-Belmont (1-5), Merrimack Valley (1-6), Manchester West (1-6), Kingswood (0-6), Pembroke (0-6).
