Playoff Roundup: Spartans move into volleyball quarterfinals

The Milford High School girls volleyball team needed all five games to take care of Laconia Thursday in the Division II girls volleyball preliminary round.

The No. 4 Spartans won 25-21, 25-14, 15-25, 14-25, 15-7 to knock off the No. 13 Sachems and advance to the quarterfinals, where they'll face No. 5 St. Thomas at home on Saturday at 6 p.m. Laura Cannon and Bri Leonard both played well for Milford (14-3).

St. Thomas advanced by sweeping No. 12 Souhegan, 25-11, 25-13, 25-15. Lauren Cordts and Isabella Stoupis turned in solid matches for the Sabers (7-10).

In Division III action, No. 7 Wilton-Lyndeborough fell to No. 10 Fall Mountain 3-2.
