Three of those teams are No. 1 seeds going into the quarterfinals, while the fourth is Bishop Guertin, whose one loss was to undefeated Pinkerton. Will any of those teams - which also includes Derryfield and Laconia - be unseated as the playoffs unfold? Anything is possible, but based on regular-season results, it would take a team's best effort, and perhaps the worst effort from one of the four. Here's a look at each division. ### Division I **Preliminary round: Wednesday, June 1** - No. 7 Nashua South 17, No. 10 Nashua North 8 - No. 9 Concord 9, No. 8 Dover 8 (OT) **Quarterfinals: Saturday, June 4, at higher seed** - **No. 9 Concord (8-9) at No. 1 Pinkerton (18-0), 5 p.m.:** The Crimson Tide have had a nice year, including handing Derryfield it's only loss of the year. If a couple of close losses go the other way, maybe Concord is in the top six with a bye into the quarterfinals. Instead, the Tide will face defending-champion Pinkerton, which beat Concord 14-4 during the regular season. The question mark going in for the Astros is the health of James Tulley, who recently dropped out of the CHaD All-Star Football game due to what was described as a "lacrosse injury." Could just be precautionary. - **No. 5 Souhegan (12-6) at No. 4 Bedford (14-4), 3 p.m.:** Bedford won the lone regular season meeting, 15-8, on May 14\. The Bulldogs had been sitting in third place for most of the season, but losses to out-of-state opponents Boston College High and Medfield - who are ranked second and third, respectively, in Massachusetts by LaxPower.com - dropped Bedford to fourth. Souhegan went 3-3 in its final six games, with the losses coming against Pinkerton, Bedford and Bishop Guertin by a combined 43-17. - **No. 7 Nashua South (11-8) at No. 2 Bishop Guertin (17-1), 2:30 p.m. at Stellos Stadium:** The Panthers advanced to the quarterfinals for the second straight year by beating Nashua North for the third time this season. Like Concord, South could have been a little higher in the final standings had it not been for a couple of closes losses. Bishop Guertin won the regular-season meeting 17-3 on April 28\. The Cardinals are coming off their first win over Duxbury, and their first undefeated (4-0) season against Massachusetts teams. - **No. 6 Londonderry (11-7) at No. 3 Exeter (14-4), 2:30 p.m.:** These teams played twice during the regular season, with Exeter winning 12-9 at Londonderry on April 26, and 12-7 at home on May 12\. The Lancers haven't loss since that game, winning six games in a row, including a 10-7 win over Division II Portsmouth, and a 16-0 blowout over Hanover in the regular-season finale. The Blue Hawks are also coming off a big win in the finale, as they beat Goffstown, the defending D2 champ, 14-2 to end the regular season. Exeter is 0-4 this season when allowing 10 goals or more. **Quarterfinal winners:** Pinkerton, Bishop Guertin, Bedford, Exeter. **Most likely upset:** Londonderry over Exeter. **Final:** Bishop Guertin over Pinkerton. **Schedule:** Quarterfinals, June 4, at higher seed; Semifinals, June 8, at Stellos Stadium in Nashua; Final, June 11 at Bill Ball Stadium, Exeter. ### Division II **Preliminary round: Wednesday, June 1** - No. 8 St. Thomas 6, No. 9 Bow 5 - No. 5 Goffstown 11, No. 12 Pembroke 5 - No. 10 John Stark 6, No. 7 Merrimack Valley 5 - No. 11 Kingswood 8, No. 6 Windham 5 **Quarterfinals: Saturday, June 4** - **No. 8 St. Thomas (10-7) at No. 1 Derryfield (16-1), 5 p.m.:** A year ago, the Cougars were the No. 1 seed, had beaten the Saints handily during the regular season, and needed OT in the quarterfinals to do so again. This year, Derryfield is again the top seed and again beat St. Thomas in the regular season, 13-1\. St. Thomas goalie Jay Gallipo has been one of the best in the state this season, as the Saints have allowed more than nine goals in a game just three times this season. - **No. 5 Goffstown (12-4) at No. 4 Winnacunnet (12-4), 7:30 p.m.:** These teams didn't meet during the regular season. The Grizzlies suffered a late season slide that dropped the defending champions out of the top four. Goffstown has struggled to score at times this year, averaging nine goals per game during the regular season. But the Grizzlies have been good defensively, giving up more than nine goals just once all season. Winnacunnet has scored 12 or more goals in seven of its last 10 games, and is 8-2 in that stretch. - **No. 10 John Stark (8-7) at No. 2 Hollis Brookline (13-3), 2:30 p.m.:** These teams didn't meet during the regular season. After an 0-3 start, with two losses to Division III teams, the Generals have won eight of 15, including Wednesday's win over Merrimack Valley. John Stark has averaged 13.4 goals in its wins, but just 5.9 in its losses. The Cavaliers have won eight games in a row and have scored 11 goals or more in the last six. - **No. 11 Kingswood (6-9) at No. 3 Portsmouth (14-3), 2:30 p.m.:** These teams played in the season opener, with the Clippers winning 13-4\. The Knights opened the season by losing their first eight games, but have won six of seven since, including wins over Goffstown and Windham. Portsmouth has found ways to win all season, although the Clippers dropped two of their final five games to Londonderry and Derryfield. **Quarterfinal winners:** Derryfield, Hollis Brookline, Portsmouth, Goffstown. **Most likely upset:** John Stark at Hollis Brookline. **Final:** Derryfield over Portsmouth. **Schedule:** Quarterfinals, June 4, at higher seed; Semifinals, June 8, at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter; Final, June 11 at Bill Ball Stadium. ### Division III **Quarterfinals: Friday, June 3, at higher seed** - **No. 8 ConVal (9-5) at No. 1 Laconia (15-0), 5 p.m.:** The Sachems won the lone regular-season meeting between the two, 15-3, on May 20\. That was part of a three-game skid for the Cougars that saw them fall to the top three seeds in the tournament by a combined 35-19\. Laconia has averaged 14.5 goals a game this season and has scored fewer than 11 just once all year. - **No. 5 Hopkinton (10-4) at No. 4 Monadnock (11-3), 5 p.m.:** These teams played back on April 25, with the Huskies grabbing a 9-3 win. That was just one of four times all season the Hawks allowed eight or more goals; they were 0-4 in those games. Hopkinton ended the regular season on a six-game winning streak that including a win over Trinity. Monadnock came the closest to knocking off Laconia this season, losing by a goal, and the Huskies have averaged 13.4 goals per game this season. - **No. 7 Plymouth (9-5) at No. 2 Kearsarge (12-2). 4 p.m.:** The Cougars won the only regular-season meeting 10-5 on April 15, and their only loss to a D3 opponent came against Laconia. While Kearsarge played just two of the top six teams in the division, it does have wins over two D2 playoff teams - Merrimack Valley and John Stark. Plymouth was 8-1 when scoring 10 or more goals this season, and just 1-4 when scoring in single digits. - **No. 6 Pelham (10-4) at No. 3 Trinity (12-2), 5 p.m. at Manchester West:** A rematch of last year's championship game, won by Trinity. The Pioneers also ready have two one-goal wins over the Pythons this seeason, winning 6-5 on May 9 and 7-6 on May 26\. Trinity hasn't been as prolific on offense this year (9.7 goals per game), but only gives up 5.8 goals per game. Pelham stumbled a bit going into the postseason, dropping its last two games. While the Pythons have averaged 13 goals a game this season, that number was just six in their four losses. **Quarterfinal winners:** Laconia, Kearsarge, Trinity, Hopkinton. **Most likely upset:** Pelham over Trinity. **Final:** Laconia over Trinity. **Schedule:** Quarterfinals, June 3, at higher seed; Semifinals, June 8, at Laconia High School; Final, June 11, at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter.
