Playoff Picture: Division II Field Hockey (Sept. 27)

Here are the standings and playoff pairings for Division II field hockey if the postseason were to begin today.

After the Bow High School field hockey team handed Hollis Brookline it’s first loss of the season last Friday – a 1-0 Falcons win with Ella Gray scoring the lone goal in the first quarter – coach Sarah Vaughn knew it would put a spotlight on her team.

It had been on the Cavaliers for the previous week, after they gave John Stark, the two-time defending Division II champion, its first loss the week before. The Generals also fell at the hands of Plymouth earlier this week, as the Bobcats look to be on a path to the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

Bow passed its first test with the bull’s eye on its back, beating Lebanon 4-0 on Tuesday, but have a bigger test coming up at Merrimack Valley on Saturday.

The team at the top of the standings though, going into Friday’s games, was Oyster River. With wins in the first eight games to start the year, the Bobcats have outscored their opponents 43-1.

Oyster River is scheduled to play at Souhegan on Friday and then go to Hollis Brookline on Monday.
