When the regular season is only nine games long, it's never too early to start thinking of the playoffs. Here's where the teams in Division I football stand after eight weeks.

## East/South Cluster

### East Conference

**Conference winners:** Exeter and Salem. **Next two:** Timberlane and Pinkerton.

**Quarterfinals:** Pinkerton at Exeter; Timberlane at Salem. Despite the loss to Merrimack, Exeter is still in control as far as clinching the top spot, although the Blue Hawks need a win over Pinkerton to make it happen. The Astros could go from first in the cluster with a win to not making the postseason with a loss. Salem is in and would host a first-round game with a win and a Pinkerton loss. Timberlane is in with a win, and can still get in with a loss. Winnacunnet and Merrimack need to win and get some help.

**Key games this week:** Pinkerton at Exeter; Salem at Londonderry; Merrimack at Timberlane; Winnacunnet at Spaulding.

**Conference winners:** Goffstown and Bishop Guertin. **Next two:** Bedford and Nashua North.

**Quarterfinals:** Nashua North at Goffstown; Bedford at Bishop Guertin. Regardless of what happens this week, Goffstown has clinched the North Conference title and the top seed in the cluster. Bedford is in, too, and will be on the road against whoever wins the West. Right now, Bishop Guertin has it, thanks to its win over North, but the loss to Goffstown opens the door. The Cardinals clinch the conference with a win, while the Titans clinch a playoff berth with a win. Central needs a win and a North or Bishop Guertin loss to get in.

**Key games this week:** Bishop Guertin at Nashua South; Keene at Nashua North; Manchester Central at Bedford.
