### Week 2 (Oct. 6)

The top 10 high school football teams in New Hampshire, with record in parentheses, first-place votes/points and last week’s ranking.

1. Nashua North (1-0), 4/58, 1st
2. Londonderry (2-0), 2/55, 2nd
3. Goffstown (2-0), 49, 3rd
4. Pinkerton (1-1), 39, 7th
5. Winnacunnet (2-0), 31, 6th
6. Salem (1-1), 28, 4th
7. Bedford (1-1), 23, 10th
8. Plymouth (2-0), 15, 8th
9. Souhegan (2-0), 14, ORV
10. Trinity (2-0), 9, ORV

**Others receiving votes:** Nashua South (0-2), 4; Exeter (0-2), 3; Dover (1-0), 2.

Voters in the poll this year are Chris Duffy, chief sports editor at the Union Leader; Roger Brown, staff reporter; Alex Hall, staff reporter; Tim MacLean, Union Leader contributor; Dan Doyon, Seacoast-based contributor for the Union Leader; and myself.

Following is the top 10 that I submitted for this week’s poll.

1. **Nashua** **North:** The Titans had a week off after last Friday's game against Merrimack was cancelled after a junior varsity football player for the Tomahawks was positive for Covid-19\. North will play a road game at Stellos Stadium against Bishop Guertin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
2. **Londonderry:** In two games, the Lancers defense hasn't allowed a point in seven of eight quarters, including all of the second half in both games. Londonderry held Salem to just one first down after halftime of Saturday's 16-0 win. The Lancers host Bedford at 7 p.m. on Friday.
3. **Goffstown:** The Grizzlies are off to a great start thanks largely in part to two great performances by quarterback Jarrett Henault. Goffstowns goes on the road for the third straight game Friday to face Manchester Central at 6 p.m.
4. **Pinkerton:** The Astros got back in the win column by focusing on their running game, as Pinkerton rushed for 297 yards and five touchdowns against Nashua South. Pinkerton will host Windham, who has yet to play a game this year, at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
5. **Winnacunnet:** The Warriors needed another last-second defensive play, this time from senior Ben Chase, to win their second game of the season - one more than they had all of last year. Winnacunnet travels to Dover on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
6. **Souhegan:** The Sabers' forced seven turnovers and held Bishop Guertin to just seven points in their win last Saturday. Souhegan travels to Milford for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff on Friday.
7. **Bedford:** The Bulldog offense got going in the win over Manchester Central behind Joe Mikol and Russell Irwin. Bedford will face a tough test Friday when it travels to Londonderry for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
8. **Salem:** The Blue Devils had a rough outing offensively against Londonderry and they'll gave to wait a while to improve on it. Salem's game against Merrimack originally scheduled for Friday has been cancelled.
9. **Dover:** The Green Wave opened the season last week by holding off Exeter thanks to some key plays late by quarterback Darian Lopez-Sullivan. Dover will host Winnacunnet at 7 p.m. Friday.
10. **Plymouth:** The Bobcats were down 20-7 going into the fourth quarter last Saturday against Kennett and rallied for a 21-20 win. Plymouth hosts Lebanon 2 p.m. on Saturday.
