After many complaints from football coaches around the state, the NHIAA [has decided to not use](http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/sportshighschoolsports/888218-221/nhiaa-immediately-returning-to-old-system.html?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) the New Hampshire Index System to determine playoff seeding in some sports, effective immediately for both football and golf.

In a memo from the NHIAA, [found here at nhfootballreport.com](http://www.nhfootballreport.com/2010/10/nhiaa%5Ffootball%5Fscraps%5Findex%5Fsy.html?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com), football committee chair Carol Dozibrin explained why football was different than other sports, which makes the need for a point system unnecessary.

The NHIS awards a team four points for winning a home game and five points for winning on the road, not taking into consideration the level of competition. With football divisions small enough that every team plays during the regular season, the need for a different way to determine the standings was deemed not needed.

There are no plans to change the Index System for any other sports, according to the memo.
