Nashua North (9-2), 4/56, 4th 2. Exeter (10-2), 49, 2nd 3. Londonderry (12-0), 2/45, 1st 4. Goffstown (7-3), 34, 6th 5. Nashua South (7-4), 28, ORV 6. Pinkerton (6-4), 24, 9th 7. Bedford (6-3), 23, ORV 8. Plymouth (9-3), 17, 8th 9. Salem (8-3), 15, 3rd 10. Hollis Brookline (10-2), 13, 5th **Others receiving votes:** Merrimack (7-4), 8; Souhegan (5-5), 6; Trinity (11-1) 5; Winnisquam (9-0), 4; Bow (10-1), 2; Campbell (8-2), 1. Voters in the poll this year are Chris Duffy, chief sports editor at the Union Leader; Roger Brown, staff reporter; Alex Hall, staff reporter; Tim MacLean, Union Leader contributor; Dan Doyon, Seacoast-based contributor for the Union Leader; and myself. Following is the top 10 that I submitted for the preseason poll. 1. **Nashua** **North:** The Titans return the most electrifying player in the state from a year ago in senior Curtis Harris-Lopez, and although he is a difference maker on both sides of the ball for North, he's not the only reason I've got his team at the top. A plethora of players return for the Titans, including Anthony Green, Brian Mwangi, Devin Bracetty, Jayden Espinal, Max Ackerman, Spencer Whiting ... I could keep going for a while. 2. **Nashua South:** OK, I'll admit it, as a Nashua native and a graduate of the school, I might have the Panthers a little high, but not by much. Like its Gate City rival, South is loaded with returning players, including Jason and Josh Compoh, Chris Keefe, Tyler Armeen, Connor Roswell and Aiden Smith. The one spot where the Panthers aren't as deep might be the most crucial, along the lines. 3. **Goffstown:** A year ago, the Grizzlies were a young group that looked like it was a year away from making noise in D1, and all Goffstown did was win the North Conference. Nick Hammond steps up from assistant to head coach, replacing Justin Hufft, and the Grizzlies bring back a lot of returning players, including Jarrett Henault, Zach Picard, Nate Belanger, Matt Dalton, Ryan Cote and Uziel Mopoyo. 4. **Exeter:** The Blue Hawks returned to the D1 final a year ago for the first time since 2016, but came up short and graduated a lot of key players. But as it often does, Exeter reloads with another group of seniors, led this year by Spencer Clark, Owen Roth and Ully Ellis while Nate Ross and John Bunell, who transferred back to Exeter from St. John's Prep, will split time at quarterback. 5. **Pinkerton:** Like Exeter, Pinkerton is a program that just reloads, and after sneaking into the playoffs a year ago, the Astros will be a team to beat this year. Pinkerton returns depth along the lines, including Brady Durazzano, Thomas MacDonald and Nate Burris. Evan Wilson will be counted on on both sides of the ball while Jacob Albert and David Clark will join him in the offensive backfield. 6. **Londonderry:** The Lancers graduated a lot from last year's championship team, particularly on offense. Londonderry will be strong up front with Hayden Fielder, EJ Donovan and Ian Ward returning. Wil Reyes leads the defense from inside linebacker, along with Riley Boles and Lucas Seaman. 7. **Plymouth:** The Bobcats made it four consecutive trips to the D2 final last year, but came up short of another title. Still, that playoff run gave a lot of players experience that will come in handy this season for Plymouth. Leading the way for the Bobcats will be seniors Cody Bannon, Joseph D'Ambruoso, Cole Johnston and Ian Tryder and juniors Jeff Lyford and Eddie Camp. 8. **Souhegan:** The last couple of seasons, the Sabers have been on the cusp of taking the next step, and this year, they have the returning cast to do it. Behind Riley Lawhorn, Luke Manning, Austin Jain, Jake Civiello, Mike Maroun, Mitch Hauser and Tony Garrant, to name a few, Souhegan has the depth to be one of the last teams standing in D2. 9. **Salem:** The Blue Devils have been one of the most consistent programs over the last few years, making the D1 semifinals three seasons in a row with a new group stepping up each time. This year will be no different, but Salem will also have a new head coach, as assistant Steve Abraham takes over for Rob Pike. Noah Poulin, Jordan Scott, Andrew Sullivan, Tanner Morgano, Mike Boutin and Jake Brady return to lead the Blue Devils. 10. **Bedford:** The Bulldogs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2013 and have a lot of holes to fill up front, but the return of junior quarterback Joseph Mikol will go a long way to helping Bedford along.
