Nashua North remains at the top of the Union Leader Football Power Poll

Here are the top 10 New Hampshire high school football teams in the Union Leader Power Poll after the first week of games.

Following is the top 10 that I submitted for this week's poll.

1. Nashua North: The Titans looked dominant up front against a good Nashua South team and plenty of skill players contribute on offense other than senior Curtis Harris-Lopez. North hosts Merrimack on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
2. Goffstown: Big first win for new head coach Nick Hammond, as the Grizzlies had to overcome some adversity in beating Bedford last weekend. Goffstown is on the road again this week, as it heads to Hudson on Friday to face Alvirne for the first time since 2015. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
3. Londonderry: Dylan McEachern stepped right in at quarterback and didn't miss a beat, and the Lancers' defense held Pinkerton in check most of the night. The defending D1 champs will host Salem on Saturday at 1 p.m.
4. Salem: The Blue Devils gave Steve Abraham a win in his first game as varsity head coach, as they rolled over Alvirne behind a balanced attack. Salem faces a big test Saturday when it goes to Londonderry for a 1 p.m. start.
5. Pinkerton: The Astros struggled against a good Londonderry defense, but kept things close with their Mack Plaque rivals, even taking the lead late in the second quarter. Pinkerton will play at home for the first time Friday at 7 p.m. against Nashua South.
6. Nashua South: Like Pinkerton, the Panthers had a hard time moving the ball against a good defense in the loss to North, but South was able to limit the Titans' big-play capabilities on offense. South goes to Derry to face Pinkerton at 7 p.m. Friday.
7. Souhegan: The Sabers opened the season by doing what no team had done to Hollis Brookline in almost three years; they shutout the Cavaliers. Souhegan will take on Bishop Guertin for the first meeting between the programs Saturday at 6 p.m. in Amherst.
8. Plymouth: The Bobcats survived a late push by Timberlane, in their first meeting with the Owls. Plymouth travels to face Kennett on Friday.
9. Exeter: The Blue Hawks were stunned on the road by rival Winnacunnet, falling short of a comeback win. Exeter is on the road again Friday when it travels to Dover.
10. Merrimack: The Tomahawks had a little bit more to come out on top against Bishop Guertin. Merrimack goes on the road to face North on Friday.
