The Blue Knights made sure to never fall behind. Two quick 3s got West rolling, and the Blue Knights did what they had to in the second half to defeat the Cavaliers 61-49 and advance to Saturday’s quarterfinal round. “I’m real proud of these guys,” West coach John Langlois said. “The past few years they haven’t been to the tournament at all and it’s our second (playoff) win. We’re still going.” The Blue Knights, who defeated Souhegan in a Round One game, always had an answer for the Cavaliers even when it seemed like HB had the momentum. That was most evident in the third quarter. West opened the quarter up nine before the Cavaliers cut the gap to just two. West responded with an 11-2 run to open a 40-29 lead. Rashawn Prescott found Tarik Krestalica in the corner for a massive 3 at the horn to send the Blue Knights into the break up 12\. HB would get no closer than eight in the fourth quarter. With the exception of the second quarter, when the Blue Knights ended the frame up nine points, West finished every quarter up double figures. West also outrebounded the Cavaliers 32-25. “Great 3 with a great pass from me, too,” Prescott said with a smile. “That 3 motivated us even more to get the win.” Prescott was everywhere for the Blue Knights. He finished with eight points, seven rebounds, seven assists and a steal. “He’s a nonstop engine,” Langlois said. “I love my team. I’m proud of every kid here, and we’re giving it everything we got.” Prescott and Krestalica were part of a senior core that led the Blue Knights. Starting center Sheer Akot finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Akot’s biggest impact came on shots affected. Akot’s height frustrated the HB offense even when he wasn’t making a play at the ball. “He gave us a lot of angles, “ Prescott said of Akot. “He gave us some good defense, some rebounds that we really needed to get this dub.” Adam Podsadowski had 10 points, and Carson Filardo chipped in eight. Sophomore Aiden Scott-Beaulac scored a team-high 14. “Carson’s so unselfish,” Langlois said. “Adam plays so hard. They’re great competitors. I tell them all the time that the greatest thing you can have anyone say to you is that you’re a great competitor.” The deep HB bench made a lot of noise for every big basket and steal, but the Cavs couldn’t solve the Blue Knights defense consistently enough to make a run. Matt Dias had a game-high 18 points and Adam Razzaboni scored 14 for HB. Kaleb Popham had five blocks off the bench.
