MANCHESTER - The Manchester Central High School football team ended its three-game losing streak with a 43-7 win over crosstown rival Manchester Memorial on Saturday.

The loss kept the Crusaders (0-7) winless on the season, while the win propelled the Little Green to a 4-3 record and got the season back on track.

Manchester Central was led by a strong running game from Emmanuel Munanya, and a strong passing connection between quarterback Alex Hawkom and receiver Dylan Feliciano. The Little Green put their foot on the gas from the beginning, powering their way to a dominant first half. The Crusaders had difficulties on both sides of the ball for the duration of the game, and ultimately proved to be their own enemy at times.

Munanya ripped the Crusader defense for an impressive 20-yard touchdown run to give the Little Green the 22-0 lead, as Memorial gave up 22 unanswered points to begin the first half. The Crusaders were able to respond with an impressive drive of their own but fell short on fourth-and goal and left the drive without any score.

Hawkom hit receiver Feliciano in stride in the final moments of the half for a gain of 60-yards. The play brought the ball to the Crusader 11-yard line, but with only 3.3 seconds remaining on the clock, Central was unable to score before the end of the half.

For most of the third quarter, both offenses had difficulties moving the ball, as the Crusaders and Little Green took turns punting on fourth down. That streak was ended when Hawkom hit Feliciano again for a gain of 40-yards. The play moved the Little Green deep into Crusader territory, and on the very next play, Hawkom hit his receiver, Nick Olibrice, in the back of the end zone for the touchdown. The score pushed the lead to 29-0 with just seconds remaining in the third.

The Crusaders were able to score off of an impressive touchdown pass from Chris Coburn to Tyrique Noel, but that would be the only score of the game for Memorial. Central responded immediately back with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Hawkom to Feliciano. The Little Green converted for two points and gave themselves the 37-7 lead. On the following possession, the Central defense held firm again and forced the Crusaders to punt.

Olibrice took the Crusader punt and returned it deep into Memorial territory. The Little Green were able to punch in another touchdown on the ground and pushed their lead to 43-7\. The rest of the clock was chewed up on the following drive and sent the Crusaders home.
