LONDONDERRY - Dominance can be boiled down to simple math. As simple as 320-73\. That’s the total points the Londonderry High School football team has amassed versus how many its given up this season.

That total includes another drubbing on Friday night, as the Lancers remained undefeated and unrivaled in a 48-7 triumph over Goffstown. Londonderry (7-0) scored 42 unanswered points and 35 of those came before halftime to force a running clock from the get-go in the second half.

“It hasn’t been easy,” Londonderry coach Jimmy Lauzon said. “The weeks of preparation have been hard and the results on Friday have looked really good, but we’re pushing them hard. If these guys continue to prepare like they have this whole season, we’re going to continue to show well on game day.”

Londonderry had Jeff Wiedenfeld score three touchdowns (two rushing scores and one fumble return) while Alex Tsetsilas caught a touchdown and returned a blocked field goal for another score.

What should scare the rest of Division I is that Londonderry isn’t relying on a certain phase of the game to roll over teams. The Lancers have balance and showed as much again on Friday against the playoff-caliber Grizzlies (5-2).

Londonderry’s offense found the end zone five times against a Goffstown defense that allowed 25 combined points over its previous three games. The Lancers defense and special teams helped set up three of those offensive scores while each unit generated a touchdown of their own.

“This whole team … I’ve really put it to them,” Wiedenfeld said. “It’s a team. This is how it’s been our whole lives and we just need to keep doing it that way. That’s our mentality all the way through.”

Wiedenfeld and Tsetsilas took care of all the scoring in Londonderry’s 35-point first half. Wiedenfeld’s 39-yard fumble return and Tsetsilas’ 68-yard return of a blocked field goal were the highlights among the duo’s scoring barrage.

Tsetsilas’ blocked field goal, scoop and dash for the end zone was particularly impressive to Lauzon.

“I’m kind of upset it took so long,” Lauzon said of the block. “We spend more time on blocks than any team I know. I’ve been on my coaches about how we haven’t really done it yet. One of them looked at me afterwards and said ‘How do you like that for a blocked field goal?’”

Wiedenfeld finished with 74 yards rushing on eight carries while Tsetsilas caught two of Londonderry quarterback Jake McEarchern’s three completions for 60 yards. Tyler Kayo and Dylan McEachern rounded out Londonderry’s scoring with a rushing touchdown apiece.

Peyton Strickland connected with Jonah Lopez on a 54-yard touchdown for Goffstown, which lost starting quarterback Jarrett Henault at the end of the first half due to injury.

Besides the Lopez score, the Grizzlies were unable to even approach the red zone any other time on the night. Goffstown lost two fumbles and Strickland threw a late interception while caving to the consistent penetration and pressure from Londonderry’s defensive front.

Londonderry’s vision, whether it be for closing running lanes or scooping up loose balls, has shown especially well in recent weeks.

“We’ve been very patient,” Wiedenfeld said. “The whole game plan (on Friday) was to be patient. Just let it come to you and then when you see something, you have to be athletic. We’re all athletes and need to keep playing like that.”
