BEDFORD - The Londonderry High School boys lacrosse team had nine days in between games to work on everything it needed to to be ready for the postseason.

The Lancers also used that time to believe.

After hanging with Bedford for three quarters in the team's regular-season meeting, Londonderry fell flat in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs ran away with a five-goal victory.

In Saturday's quarterfinal, it was No. 5 Londonderry's turn to own the fourth, as the Lancers rallied from a four-goal deficit with a 5-0 run and knocked off No. 4 Bedford 10-9 to advance to the Division I semifinals for the first time since 2013\. Londonderry will face No. 1 Bishop Guertin, which beat No. 8 Hanover 20-1 on Saturday, at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter.

Nathan Andrews led the Lancers with three goals and an assist, as he found Zach Fawcett for the game-tying goal and then netted the game-winner with 2:39 remaining.

Jake Holland also had three goals and Jeff Wiedenfeld (assist), Michael McAlister and James Cranmer also scored. Josh Harmon made four saves, including one on a bounce shot by Bedford's Ryan Toscano in the final seconds.

"They came in here pretty confident because we had four good days of practice," Londonderry coach Roger Sampson said. "We had an opportunity to work on all of our sets and everything we needed to do. When we played Bedford before, it was a tight game for a while, so we knew we could win this one. Coming in here, that was the message, just give us a hundred percent effort. If we do that, we’ll be victorious."

But the Lancers (12-6) looked like they were going to be far from victorious in the later stages of the third quarter. Back-to-back goals by Bedford's Devin LaFrance - the second of which was a behind-the-back shot in transition - put the Bulldogs (12-7) up 9-5 with three minutes left in the quarter.

After the goal, LaFrance received a conduct foul and Londonderry was given possession. The Lancers never gave it up the rest of the quarter, and after a slashing call on Colton Krasinski, Wiedenfeld scored with 6.1 seconds left in the quarter to cut the Bedford lead to three going into the fourth.

"We had this drive to us to do better," Londonderry defenseman Corey Hicks said. "We knew that it’s do or die, this could be our last game together. We fixed up everything."

Londonderry carried the momentum into the fourth, getting goals from Cranmer and Holland 24 seconds apart to make it a 9-8 Bedford lead just 1:40 into the final quarter.

"I told them, we’ve got 12 minutes and all we have to do is score and momentum can be on our side," Sampson said. "It started to build and they started feeling it and the sideline started perking up. We were low for a while. That’s what we needed. We needed everybody to get up."

The Bulldogs were able to win the ensuing faceoff, but Harmon came up with a save and Londonderry's offense took control again, tying the game on Fawcett's goal with 7:08 to play. The Lancers got the faceoff, but turned the ball over, and Bedford maintained possession, but couldn't get a shot on goal, sending four attempts wide.

LaFrance finally got a good look, but Harmon came up with the save and was able to clear it, leading to Andrews' game-winner at the other end.

"All we were saying was this game is not over," Londonderry's Troy Knight said. "You give your all for two minutes and we win. That’s what we did."

Bedford got the ball back with 1:18 to play, and after a timeout, got a shot off that missed the cage. The Bulldogs took another timeout with 34.7 seconds remaining and Toscano was able to bounce a shot that looked like it might go over Harmon, but at the last moment, the junior goalie got enough of it to send it over the cage.

Dawson Clark had a chance to tie it seconds later from in front, but his shot sailed high and he was called for a crease violation, giving Londonderry possession and the win.

"Last game we played them, we were in the game and we kind of shut down and they went on a run," Knight said. "This game, no one gave up, everyone worked as a team and we got the win."

LaFrance finished with four goals for Bedford while Clark had two goals and an assist and Toscano also scored twice. Jack Cusack added a goal and two assists and Luke Boll made nine saves.
