Latimore poised for big season for Pinkerton football

MANCHESTER - The 2013 high school football season could be a big one for Pinkerton senior Manny Latimore.

After rushing for over 1,500 yards and scoring 29 touchdowns as a junior, expectations are high among just about everyone.

"What do I expect from him this year? Everything," Pinkerton coach Brian O'Reilly said after last Friday's Queen City Jamboree. "Based on his senior year, it’s possible that Manny will be one of the best running backs we have ever had. If Manny has the senior year that we fully expect of him, then that’s a possibility."

O'Reilly made it no secret that he wants to use Latimore in as many ways as he can on offense. If the Astros need him, Latimore can also step in on the other side of the ball at defensive back.

"You better pay attention to Manny Latimore," O'Reilly said. "When you’ve got that kind of a weapon, you’ve got to use it, and I will use it.

"Manny is a really good defensive back, and if we have to, we will (use him). But just the fact of what we’re going to do with him on offense, you don’t want to start from the get-go. In some situations, he’ll be on the field."

One thing O'Reilly wasn't ready to reveal publicly was who his starting quarterback will be Friday against Bedford.

"It will be somebody, or it will be a combination," he said. "Honestly, I’ll have to look at the film. I didn’t even get my third quarterback in (last Friday against Timberlane), who I am seriously looking at. We’ll see about that, too."
