Introducing the 'Insert-Your-Business-Name-Here' Lacrosse Notebook (video)
As these words appear on the screen, the sky is grey and millions of tiny snowflakes are flying around. That comes after a stretch of the coldest weather so far this winter. So it's a perfect time to start talking about lacrosse, am I right?
As these words appear on the screen, the sky is grey and millions of tiny snowflakes are flying around.
That comes after a stretch of the coldest weather so far this winter.
So it's a perfect time to start talking about lacrosse, am I right?
It has been 604 days since the last high school lacrosse game was played in New Hampshire, and I believe there are quite a few people out there who feel the same way I do. The return to spring sports can not come soon enough.
One thing I've tried to figure out over the last couple of years is how to provide a little more lacrosse coverage during the high school offseason. There's been a little bit in the past, with highlights from the indoor league run by the Tomahawks, some signing day updates and a few other stories here and there.
With things still in a bit of an upheaval from COVID-19, I'm going to get the coverage going a little bit earlier - as in right now.
This post right here is the beginning of our 2021 high school lacrosse coverage. We've got about eight weeks until the beginning of spring practices for the high school season (more on that later this week, hopefully) and it will be filled with a weekly notebook, features and profiles, and the return of the Ninth State Sports Show podcast.
Later this week, we'll have a story on Windham's Nate Levine, a senior who has signed to play at Syracuse University next year, the first in what will be at least a dozen profiles on seniors who are looking to have a big year.
The podcast will start up in mid-February, where we'll talk high school lacrosse and recruiting, but also discuss some recent college results and news from the pro game until we get into preseason coverage. And for the fourth year in a row, we will be releasing Boys and Girls Lacrosse Watch Lists in early April.
There's still a good way to go before the first official games will be played, but after the season that wasn't a year ago, we've got a lot of time to make up for and I would like to get started as soon as possible. I'm hoping you'll come along with me.
Looking for Sponsors
Now that we've got all that out of the way, the next biggest question is what exactly is up with the headline to this post.
As many of you know, a lot of our coverage is available to those who signup for a membership. This year - and beyond - I'd like to be able to provide more coverage that's available to everyone, and in order to do that, I need someone to sponsor different features.
For example, this notebook will be a weekly feature from now until the end of June. That's about 20 posts, not including this one, and whoever ends up sponsoring it will have their business name in the headline, along with a link to their website in the post. If that's something you'd like to be a part of, let me know.
And this isn't the only opportunity for anyone interested in helping with our lacrosse coverage. I'm also looking for someone to sponsor the Ninth State Sports Show and the Coaches Poll, so click on the link if you'd like more information.
Lacrosse Memberships
Coverage for the 2021 season will still include stories that are available only to those who signup for a membership. Anyone who signs up for our regular yearly, monthly or weekly memberships will have access to this content, and all content on the site.
This year, there will also be two levels of lacrosse membership: the Sports Insider Lacrosse Membership will give you access to all 2021 stories starting the day you sign up through the end of June; the Sports Insider Lacrosse Membership PLUS not only gives you the same access, but you also get a copy of the Lacrosse Preview magazine, a copy of the Boys & Girls Lacrosse Yearbook and a Player Page.
As an independent and small New Hampshire-based business, all membership signups and sponsorships are vital to keeping the website going. If you are able to do either, please do, or if you know someone who might be interested, please share it with them.
I'm really looking forward to this spring season, and I hope you are, too. It should be a fun one.
