The Hawks may be the favorite to make it three titles in a row - and perhaps another undefeated season - but there are quite a few teams in the division will have a say before the season is done. Pelham, Laconia and Plymouth, along with four or five more teams, will push Hopkinton and should make for an entertaining season in Division III. ### Favorites - **Hopkinton (17-0 in 2018):** The Hawks saw the graduation of some top players, including goalie Alex Rousseau, defender Gerry Donahue and attackman Jake Tomlinson. But Hopkinton is still loaded with talent, led in the midfield by junior Colby Quiet and senior Paul Molnar and at attack by seniors Corey Breault and Allan Faulkner. Seniors Carter Haley and Kiernan Byrne will lead the defense while junior Benny Madden steps in at goalie. The Hawks will also get a boost from newcomers Ryan Brown (attack), Sam Brown (midfield), Aidan Burns (midfield) and Steven Delgado-Newton (defense). - **Pelham (12-2):** The Pythons rolled through the regular season last year before being upset by Monadnock in the quarterfinals. Pelham lost just two players to graduation and return eight seniors, including LSM Manny Baisley. Junior Charlie Katin will lead the midfield along with seniors Riley Nutter, Devin Tucci and Shawn McAdam. On offense, seniors Evan Haskins and Ian Morgenstern lead the way while senior Brett Lindsay and senior goalie Austin Walsh will anchor a young defense. - **Laconia (15-2):** The Sachems only two losses last year were to Hopkinton and the D3 runner-up could be poised for another run to the title game. Laconia returns a big group of talented seniors, led by midfielders Jakob Steele, Cole Reid and Ryan Chiasson. The defense will look to seniors Garrett Whitney and Jordan Brown to lead the way early as senior Keegan Johnson makes the switch from attack to long pole and goalie Musab Abu Zaid steps in for Stephen Towers, who graduated. Cole Champoux also returns to take faceoffs and has been working to be a two-way middie for Laconia. ### Challenger - **Plymouth (12-4):** The Bobcats will have to find away to replace Nolan Farina, last year's D3 Offensive Player of the Year, who graduated. Seniors Steven Shute and Zack Ross will draw that assignment on attack while midfielders Tucker James (senior) and Max Homer (senior) also return. The defense will be led by seniors Tracy Cristiano, Camden MacDonald and Seth Sawyer. ### Contenders - **Kearsarge (5-11):** The Cougars took their lumps a year ago, but return eight seniors, including all-state attackman Tate Nurme and middie Emerson Tyler, who will also take faceoffs for Kearsarge. Defensively, Kearsarge will look to senior defender Patrick Lee and LSM Max Phillips to lead the way. - **Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough (7-7):** The Lakers were close to make the playoffs in just their second varsity season and return seven starters, including junior Liam Brown and sophomore Max Hentz. ILM also has goalie Clayton Hornkohl, senior Jacob Mulsow and Noah Robinson back to lead the defense while Anthony Yopp returns after missing last year with an injury. Cape Mulsow (junior LSM), Andrew Spicuzza (sophomore middie) and Ryan Caswell (senior attackman) also return while freshman Jack Gallagher joins the defense. Sophomore Brett Caswell and freshman Mathew Hale will bolster the offense. - **Milford (7-7):** Like ILM, the Spartans were just on the outside of the postseason, and despite graduating a lot of talent, Milford returns a solid group of juniors. Included in that are returning starters in middies Gavin Urda and Matt Hannon while Alex Taylor and goalie Kyle Forsley are back on defense. Senior Hunter Boudreau, junior Riley O'Shaughnessy and sophomore Corey Girouard also return on offense while juniors Samson Hodges and Ryan Seale will contribute on defense for the Spartans. - **Monadnock (9-7):** The Huskies are coming off back-to-back semifinal appearances and return a solid core not only from that team, but from the school's championship football team. Tim Hart and Chandler Matson lead the way for Monadnock, while Isaac Jasinski and Chris Boucher are also back. - **Trinity (8-6):** The Pioneers have been a perennial playoff team in D3, but haven't won a postseason game since winning the championship game in 2015\. Trinity was hit hard by graduation, losing Nathan Arcand and Eli Buck, while Ethan Mesner and Ryan Etzo transferred. The Pioneers do return senior Will Brown, who was an all-state performer a year ago. ### Dark horse - **Campbell (3-10):** The Cougars return 16 players, including eight starters from a year ago, led by their defense, where senior goalie Billy Randolph is joined by long poles Jake Hartwell and Adam Breton. Junior LSM Cam Barrett is also back while Jack Munnelly returns on defense. Seniors Colby Wilson, Jason Rubino and Logan DeCarolis return at attack and midfielders Matt Rollend and Tyler St. Onge also return. ### Rest of the field - **Bishop Brady (2-12)** - **Gilford (5-9)** - **Lebanon (3-11)** - **Stevens (0-14)** ### Playoff Predictions **Playoff teams:** Hopkinton, Pelham, Laconia, Plymouth, Kearsarge, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough, Monadnock, Milford. **Final four:** Hopkinton, Pelham, Laconia, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough. **Championship:** Hopkinton over Pelham.
