High school football season is here

Friday night marks the beginning of another high school football season. Six schools - Pinkerton, Bishop Guertin, Souhegan, Lebanon, Kearsarge and Newport - will try to repeat as champions of their respective divisions.

Locally, there are many questions that will be answered in what will be a quick 12 weeks.

A Nashua school has played in the Division I championship game in each of the last four season, with North coming up short in the last two. Can either North or South continue the streak this season?

Bishop Guertin has played in the last seven Division II title games, winning six. But the Cardinals have a new coach and should once again have the bull's eye on their backs. Will BG win its fourth straight title? Or can someone knock the Cardinals off the top?

Division III has been the same story for the last three years - Souhegan has beaten Portsmouth for the title. But some say the Sabers are down this year, and the Clippers will be joined by Milford, Bedford and Hollis/Brookline in an attempt to unseat the three-time defending champions.
