HOLLIS – Colin Pellerin and Nate Ferenczhalmy rushed for a combined 174 yards and three touchdowns Saturday night as the Hollis/Brookline High School rolled to a 54-12 win over Con-Val.

The Cavaliers rushed for 354 yards and seven touchdowns, scoring on their first eight drives to remain undefeated in Division III. It was part of an offensive performance that saw H/B pick up 20 first downs and gain almost 500 yards of offense, while giving up 201 yards to Con-Val. Ninety-one of those yards came on two long touchdown passes for the Cougars.

“The kids came out and executed our game plan,” H/B coach Milt Robinson said. “We were very focused all week and that’s how we were able to come out with a victory.”

H/B (4-0 in division, 5-0) is undefeated at this point of a season for the first time in program history, and has four of its biggest games coming up to finish the regular season. The Cavs will play at Bedford, home to Portsmouth and Milford and at Goffstown to finish out the year.

“You can’t ask for anything else than to have a stretch run at the end where you have to beat the four best teams in the division,” Robinson said. “That’s what we have in front of us.”

Con-Val coach Greg Leonard is one who believes the Cavs will be in the playoff mix when that stretch is done.

“Hollis/Brookline has a heck of a football team,” he said. “Right now, Hollis/Brookline and Portsmouth are the two best teams in our division. I certainly think those two teams are going to be playing in the championship game at the end of the season.”

H/B scored on eight of its nine possessions, and the only reason the Cavs didn’t score on the final drive was because, after getting a first-and-goal at the 5, they took a knee on four straight plays to finish off the game.

When you have great running backs with an offensive line that works their tails off inside, great things are going to happen for you as a football team,” Leonard said. “Milt has had his bad days and he deserves what he’s getting right now. He obviously has worked very hard to get this program to where it is right now.”

Pellerin had 92 yards on the ground and Ferenczhalmy added another 82 while Sean Connors ran for 70 yards and a touchdown and Jonah Chazin had 56 yards and two scores.

“They love to play football,” Robinson said of Pellerin and Ferenczhalmy. “They’re both a hundred miles an hour in practice. It never stops and you can see it in the game. Whether we’re up or down, it’s always the same speed, they’re always playing their hardest.

“Same with the offensive line. They’re great running backs, but they’re great running backs because they have a great offensive line in front of them.”

Kyle Gervais completed his first seven passes and finished 8 of 10 for 105 yards and a touchdown to Mitch Frick, who caught four passes for 65 yards.

“Our season begins right now,” Robinson said. “I can’t wait for next week. I wish we could play tomorrow because it’s going to be two good football teams going at each other, and that’s what you love.”
