H/B comes up short against Pinkerton

The Hollis/Brookline High School girls lacrosse team took an early lead, but couldn't hang on against Pinkerton Academy, falling 7-6 to the Astros.

It was the Cavaliers (1-1) first loss in Division I, and the team's first loss to a division opponent in over two years. H/B also lost to Pinkerton (2-0) last season in a non-division game.

Hanna Mazzola led H/B with two goals and an assist, as the Cavs jumped out to a 2-0 on goals by Leda Kennedy (goal, assist) and Mazzola. But Pinkerton came back to take a 3-2 lead before H/B tied the game on a goal by Katie Tighe just before halftime. The teams traded scores in the second half.

Annabelle Eliopoulos and Julie Worthern also scored for H/B while Katie O'Hara and Caitlin Sweeney each had an assist and Erin Turner made six saves.

Riann Daziel led Pinkerton with two goals and an assist and Vickie Kuhn had a goal and an assist.
