Hawks fall to Owls in Division I field hockey playoffs

The Merrimack High School field hockey team saw its season come to an end Sunday in a 2-1 loss to Timberlane in the Division I quarterfinals.

Erin MacLean scored the lone goal for the No. 4 Tomahawks (10-5) off an assist from Sami Smith. That goal made it a 1-1 game, but Timberlane's Hannah Feneberg scored her second goal of the game with 10:13 left in the game to give the No. 5 Owls (11-5) lead.

Timberlane moves on to the semifinals on Thursday to face No. 1 Winnacunnet, which defeated No. 8 Manchester Memorial 2-0.

No. 7 Bishop Guertin (7-7-2) also  saw its campaign come to a close, falling to No. 2 Pinkerton 3-0. The Astros (13-1-1) will now face No. 3 Salem, which defeated No. 6 Exeter 3-2, in the semifinals.
