Granite State Games: Tuesday Roundup

Softball

The Lakes Region picked up its second win of the games, beating Southern 9-0 behind a complete-game from Hailey Haskins (Franklin). Haskins scattered four hits and walked one while striking out six.

Abigail Corbett (Concord) singled and scored on a hit by Jordan Sargent (Belmont) in the first inning for Lakes. Erica Barely (Bedford) went 2 for 3 for Southern while Jocelyn Dimond (John Stark) made a stellar defensive play to end the first inning.

In the second game, Monadnock defeated Coastal 10-6 to move to 1-1 in the games. On Wednesday, Southern (1-1) and Monadnock (1-1) will play at 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to Thursday's championship game. Lakes (2-0), which will play in the championship game, takes on Coastal at 6:30 p.m.

Lacrosse

The boys and girls lacrosse schedules resume on Wednesday. On the boys side, Southern (2-0) and Monadnock (2-0) will play at 5:30 p.m. on the Derryfield grass in a preview of Thursday's championship game. Then the Coastal (0-2) and Lakes Region (0-2) teams will play at 5:30 p.m. on the Derryfield turf.

On the girls side, Lakes (0-0) will take on Coastal/Monadnock (0-1) at 4 p.m. on the Derryfield turf, and then will play Southern (1-0) at 7:30 p.m.
