Granite State Games: Monday Roundup

Softball
Southern 4, Coastal 3: Emily Moll (Derryfield), Lexi Balam (Wilton-Lyndeborough) and Delani Dowst (John Stark) combined to pitch a solid game in the circle for Southern.
Southern took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Jocelyn Dimond (John Stark) was hit by a pitch and Alyssa DiMauro (Trinity) followed with a single. After a pass ball, Dimond scored on a groundout by Erica Barley (Bedford), and DiMauro scored on a groundout by Erika Went (Derryfield).
Coastal came back to take a 3-2 lead, but Southern tied it in the fifth as Maria Fern (Trinity) drove in Olivia Crowley (Pelham). Then, in the sixth, Dimond walked, went to second on a bunt by DiMauro, and scored the winning run on a hit by Meg Purcell (Goffstown).
Boys Lacrosse
Monadnock opens with two wins: Monadnock opened the Granite State Games on Monday with a 10-7 win over Lakes and a 12-5 win over Coastal.
Tuesday's Schedule
Softball: Southern vs. Lakes, 5 p.m.; Coastal vs. Monadnock, 6:30 p.m. Both games at Derryfield School.
