# Girls volleyball rankings for Oct. 5

Despite a few losses by some of the teams in the Top 15, there wasn't much change to the statewide rankings this week.

Concord picked up three more wins to remain at No. 1, and St. Thomas, despite suffering its first loss of the year, stayed at the No. 2 spot. Bishop Guertin jumped from No. 5 to No. 3 thanks in part to wins over Hollis Brookline and Dover, which was No. 3 last week. Windham remained undefeated in Division II and stayed at No. 4, while Spaulding jumped back into the top five.

### How the rankings are done

We took the NHIAA’s football rating system, and gave it a little tweak. Instead of 10 points for a win, we weighted the wins by division, giving 12 for a win over a D1 team, 10 for a win over D2 and eight for a win over D3\. Plus, every team got two points for a win by a beaten opponent. The two point totals were added together and divided by the number of games played.
