The top team in the state-wide rankings hasn't changed, but there's been plenty of shuffling behind the Pinkerton Academy girls basketball team.

The top team in the state-wide rankings hasn't changed, but there's been plenty of shuffling behind the Pinkerton Academy girls basketball team.

The Astros remain as the lone undefeated team in Division I, but a new team moves in at No. 2, as Conant jumped up a spot and moved past Bedford for second in the rankings. The Bulldogs moved down to No. 3, while Sunapee, undefeated in Division IV, jumped two spots to fourth. Lebanon rounds out the top five, its second week in a row in that spot.

Here are the top 15 rankings and rankings for each division. They will be updated every Monday throughout the regular season.

How the rankings are done

We took the NHIAA’s football rating system, and gave it a little tweak. Instead of 10 points for a win, we weighted the wins by division, giving 12 for a win over a D1 team, 10 for a win over D2, eight for a win over D3, and six for a win over D4. Plus, every team got two points for a win by a beaten opponent. The two point totals were added together and divided by the number of games played.
