It's not often in the landscape of New Hampshire high school sports that a game between two teams from different classes or divisions holds a lot of significance.

But Wednesday's softball game between Mascenic and Wilton-Lyndeborough could be one for the record books.

When the teams take the field at 4 p.m. at WLC, the Warriors will be going for the 100th consecutive win at home. That streak includes the playoffs and dates back longer than any of the players can remember.

During that stretch, the Warriors have been one of the premier teams in Class S. WLC has advanced to five consecutive Class S championship games, winning titles in 2007 and 2008\. During those five seasons, they've had two different streaks of 50-plus regular season wins in a row, no matter the location.

Mascenic sits at 1-3 in Class M, with a game against Stevens on Tuesday before the trip to Wilton. One of the Vikings' losses was a 14-6 defeat at the hands of Con-Val, a Class I team.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are off to a 4-0 start, including a 7-6 win at home over Pittsfield on April 19\. In their last two games - road wins over Sunapee and Nute, the Warriors have outscored the opposition 28-3.

The Warriors and Vikings will meet at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in Wilton.
