The Nassau County Sports Commission announced the preseason watch list for the 2010 John Mackey Award on Monday, and a familiar name was among the 32 there.
Londonderry High School graduate Ryan Griffin, a redshirt sophomore at the University of Connecticut, is one of four second-year players named to the list. Griffin was also one of four Big East players to get the preseason honor.
As a freshman, Griffin had 23 catches for 272 yards, including a career-high six catches and 80 yards against Rutgers. UConn opens the 2010 season at Michigan on Sept. 4.
The Mackey Award will be given out Dec. 9.
