The Nassau County Sports Commission announced the preseason watch list for the 2010 John Mackey Award on Monday, and a familiar name was among the 32 there.

Londonderry High School graduate Ryan Griffin, a redshirt sophomore at the University of Connecticut, is one of four second-year players named to [the list](http://www.johnmackeyaward.org/?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com). Griffin was also one of four Big East players to get [the preseason honor](http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/%5F/id/11217/four-from-big-east-on-mackey-award-list?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com).

[As a freshman](http://www.uconnhuskies.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/081610aab.html?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com), Griffin had 23 catches for 272 yards, including a career-high six catches and 80 yards against Rutgers. UConn opens the 2010 season at Michigan on Sept. 4.

The Mackey Award will be given out Dec. 9.
