It might need to on both sides on Tuesday night, when the Spartans host the high-scoring Goffstown boys basketball team. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Both teams can get it done on offense, as Milford (14-0) enters averaging 70.9 points a game and Goffstown (10-2) puts up an unbelievable 86.3 points a game. The Grizzlies have gone over 90 points in six games this season, although they've scored just 71 in their last three games. But while both teams put up points, its Milford's defense that could be the big difference. The Spartans allow 51.1 points a contest whole Goffstown gives up a whopping 70.6. Its the first of two tough contests for the Spartans this week, as they'll also host Pelham (11-2) on Friday. Going into Tuesday, Milford has won 32 straight games, including last year's playoffs and this year's Christmas tournament. ### 2\. Lebanon at Souhegan girls basketball, Saturday, 6:30 p.m. This game was on the radar two weeks ago, but snow postponed it to this weekend. Both teams are still undefeated, and after Kennett's loss to Portsmouth last Friday, they remained the only unbeaten teams in Division II. Whoever wins would likely end up with the No. 1 seed in the division. Points could be hard to come by, as the Sabers (12-0) have averaged 35.6 points allowed per game and Lebanon (13-0) has given up just 29.4\. The Raiders have allowed more than 30 points just five times this season, and have won every game by at least 17 points. ### 3\. Wilton-Lyndeborough vs. Sunapee boys basketball, Wednesday and Friday, 7 p.m. These two teams will play a home-and-home this week, with Wednesday's game at Sunapee and Friday's game in Wilton. Going into this week's action, both were in a three-way tie for seventh with Pittsfield at 8-6 in Division IV. If either team can win both games, it would be in line for a top eight seed in the tournament and a home playoff game. After starting the season 1-5, Sunapee has won seven of eight games to resurrect its playoff hopes. W-L also had a tough start to the season, going 1-3\. The Warriors bounced back, but their six losses this season have come against teams with a combined 35-7 record. ### 4\. Manchester Memorial at Alvirne girls basketball, Tuesday, 7 p.m. Both teams are in need of a win to have a shot at a top four seed in Division I, as Memorial is fifth in the standings and Alvirne is sixth. Alvirne (10-4) had a seven game win streak ended last week in a 66-48 loss to Londonderry and the Broncos fell to Nashua South Friday 49-46\. Memorial (10-5) has gone through a similar slump, having won eight in a row before losing four of its last five, including a 48-46 loss to Merrimack Friday. ### 5\. Nashua North at Bishop Guertin girls basketball, Friday, 7 p.m. If Memorial and Alvirne need a win, North and Bishop Guertin are desperate for a win. After strong starts by both teams, each one has slid into the lower half of the Division I standings - the Titans are ninth and the Cardinals are 10th. The struggles of both are similar. North (8-6) has lost four of its last six games, scoring just 36.2 points during that stretch, while allowing 46.0\. Bishop Guertin (7-7) has lost three in a row and four of its last five, averaging 34.6 points a game and giving up 46.0\. The winner will still have a shot at a home playoff game, while the loser will likely be going on the road in the postseason. ### Must-wins for Merrimack boys The Merrimack boys basketball team is sitting in a good spot, but it could get even better if the Tomahawks take care of business this week. Despite last week's loss to Memorial, Merrimack (8-3) is still in the top four in Division I and has three games against teams below it in the standings. On Tuesday, Merrimack will head to Dover (6-5), which is coming off a 1-2 week. Thursday the Tomahawks will host Londonderry (6-5) and on Friday, they host Pinkerton (6-5). If Merrimack wins all three or just two of three, it will be in good position to get a top four seed.
