That doesn't mean there is a lack of good games scheduled for this week, although the weather might wreak havoc on the high school schedule once again. Here are a handful of local games to keep an eye on this week: ### 1\. Nashua North at Nashua South boys basketball, Thursday, 7 p.m. At first glance, these teams don't seem to be evenly matched, thanks to their records - Titans are 4-2, Panthers are 2-5 - and recent results. North, despite a loss to Salem last Friday, has won three of its last four games, while South has dropped four straight. But the Titans four wins have come against teams with a combined 5-21 record this year and their only outscoring opponents by an average of two-plus points per game. Meanwhile, the Panthers have lost their last two games by a combined seven points, and in both games, South overcame a huge second-half deficit. Hard to believe that a month ago, South was finishing third in the Chick-fil-A Holiday Tournament, while North's only win came in the seventh-place game. They've gone in opposite directions since. Both have games on Tuesday, as South heads to Dover and North hosts Londonderry. ### 1a. Nashua South at Nashua North girls basketball, Friday, 7 p.m. The Titans (6-2) are one of the hottest teams in Division I, having won five in a row entering this week's action, while South (4-3) hasn't played since a loss to Manchester Memorial on Jan. 14\. A win for North could give the Titans a shot at a top eight seed in the tournament, while a South win could go a long way toward avoiding a road game to open the playoffs. ### 2\. Trinity at Bishop Guertin boys basketball, Friday, 7 p.m. This is a game a lot of people likely had marked off on their calendars, and its certain that the Cardinals (5-2) will put the undefeated record of the Pioneers (7-0) to the test. The biggest key for Bishop Guertin is the healthy of Connor Green, who scored 14 points in a win over Exeter on Saturday after missing the previous four games. Points should be hard to come by for the Cardinals, as Trinity allows just 41.7 points per game, while averaging in the low 50s on offense. After this week, Bishop Guertin should know a lot about its chances this season, as the Cardinals will travel to Manchester Memorial (5-1) on Tuesday. Trinity also goes on the road on Tuesday, traveling to Exeter before its trip to Nashua Friday night. ### 3\. Goffstown at Souhegan boys basketball, Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. Fans of low-scoring games should probably avoid this one. The Grizzlies (6-1) enter this week's action averaging 90.9 points per game, including three contests in which they've gone over 100 points. If Goffstown's loss to Oyster River is removed, the Grizzlies have scored an average of 96 points per game. But they've also given up a lot of points as well - 84.2 a game. While Souhegan (5-1) has only gone over the 80-point mark twice, the Sabers are giving up just 49.7 points a game. ### 4\. Milford at Oyster River boys basketball, Friday, 6:30 p.m. The Spartans (7-0) and Bobcats (6-1) aren't used to playing close games this year. Milford's closest wins have come by 10 points, on two occasions, while Oyster River, outside of its first two games of the year, hasn't had a game closer than nine points. The Spartans are coming off an 81-35 romp over Sanborn, and have already played quite a few games against the best Division II has to offer. Since losing the season-opener to Bedford, Oyster River has won six in a row, including wins over Goffstown and Lebanon. ### 5\. Somersworth at Alvirne boys hockey, Saturday, 3:50 p.m. The Broncos (7-1) will get a shot at taking out the last undefeated team in Division III in the Hilltoppers (8-0) at Cyclones Arena in Hudson. Somersworth, which will play Belmont-Gilford on Wendesday, already has two wins over defending-champion Kennett this year, average 8.4 goals per game. Alvirne's only loss this season came at the hands of Kennett, but the Broncos have won four in a row since then. Alvirne has also scored 19 goals in its last two games. **Look back at last week** Of the six games on last week's list, three were postponed and have yet to be made up. On Thursday of last week, Alvirne held off Timberlane for [a 48-43 victory](http://www.lowellsun.com/sports/ci%5F17157736?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) in Division I girls basketball. Katie Donovan scored 22 points for the Broncos and DJ Purcell added 18 as Alvirne outscored the Owls 20-13 in the fourth quarter. On Friday of last week, North [got out to a slow start](http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/sportshighschoolsports/906293-221/titans-rally-falls-short-at-salem.html?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) and fell to Salem 53-42 in Division boys basketball. Anthony Farmer scored 14 points for the Titans and Ryan Gauthier had 11, as North trailed 32-19 at halftime. On Saturday of last week, Hollis/Brookline [pulled off an upset on the ice](http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/sportshighschoolsports/906384-221/saturdays-high-school-highlights-lacoste-qualifies-for.html?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com), beating Belmont-Gilford 6-5 in Division III boys hockey. The Cavaliers rallied from a 5-4 deficit at the start of the third period, getting goals from Tom Kyrias and Jake Kobylarz to tie and then take the lead. The loss was the first of the season for Belmont-Gilford.
