It may be just the first week of the spring season, but there are some big matchups on the schedule to start the season.
Here's a look at some key games on the boys lacrosse schedule.
- Nashua South at Souhegan, 4 p.m. on Monday: Two teams that are hoping to take the next step in Division I will open the season in Amherst. South lost a lot on offense, but the depth is there to make up for some of it, while Souhegan returns all but one starter from a team that made the final four a year ago.
- Dover at St. Thomas, 4 p.m. on Monday: Both teams have hopes of being the one to knock off two-time defending champion Bedford in Division II, but before that, these rivals get to play each other first.
- Windham at Pelham, 4 p.m. on Tuesday: Division III appears to be wide open and both the Jaguars and Pythons have a shot at being in the mix.
- Merrimack at Bedford, 4 p.m. on Wednesday: The Bulldogs will be looking for their 41st win in a row as they start their quest for a third straight title. Merrimack played Bedford as close as anybody last year, and the Tomahawks have most of their offense back from a season ago.
- Bishop Guertin at Exeter, 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday: The quest for five straight titles begins at Bill Ball Stadium for the Cardinals, as they open with one of the teams that could present the best challenge to Bishop Guertin's title streak.
