# Field set for boys soccer playoffs

The Nashua High School North boys soccer team opened the regular season against Londonderry, and now the Titans will do the same in the Division I playoffs.

North got into the postseason as the 12th and final seed - this year, the top four Division I teams got byes into the quarterfinals - and the Titans (4-11-1) will head to Londonderry to face the No. 5 Lancers (12-3-1) in a preliminary round game on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The Lancers won the regular-season meeting 1-0 on Aug. 27 at Stellos Stadium. The winner will advance to face No. 4 Pinkerton at 3 p.m. on Friday in Derry.

Bishop Guertin (7-8-1) earned the No. 9 seed and will travel to face No. 8 Salem (9-6-1) at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils won the regular-season meeting 2-0 on Oct. 15, and have only allowed two goals in the last six games (5-0-1). The winner goes to Concord for the quarterfinals to face the No. 1 Crimson Tide on Friday at 3 p.m.

Merrimack (6-9-1) is 10th and will take on No. 7 Manchester Memorial (9-6-1), also at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams also played in the season opener on Aug. 27, which the Crusaders won 4-1\. The winner advances to play No. 2 Manchester Central in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. on Friday.

No. 6 Keene will host No. 11 Timberlane in the final preliminary round game on Tuesday, with the winner advancing to face No. 3 Exeter in the quarterfinals.

### Division II

Souhegan and Bedford both earned top five seeds in the tournament and would host first- and second-round games if they advance.

The Sabers (13-1-2) are the No. 3 seed and will host No. 14 Windham (6-8-2) on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Amherst. Souhegan won the regular-season meeting 1-0 on Oct. 5\. The winner will face either No. 6 Lebanon (12-4) or No. 11 Hollis/Brookline (8-6-2) in the quarterfinals on Saturday. The Cavaliers travel to Lebanon, also for a 3 p.m. start on Wednesday; the teams didn't play during the regular season.

On the other side of the bottom half of the bracket, No. 2 Hanover, which won the last five Class I titles, will host No. 15 Trinity in the first round. The winner of that game will face either No. 7 Coe-Brown or No. 10 Oyster River in the quarterfinals.

Bedford (13-2-1) is the fourth seed in the tournament and will take on No. 13 Con-Val (7-9) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Bedford. The Bulldogs won the lone regular-season meeting between the teams, 2-1 on Oct. 5\. The winner will take on the winner of No. 5 Goffstown and No. 12 Pembroke in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Merrimack Valley earned the No. 1 seed and will host No. 16 Kennett in the preliminary round, with the winner advancing to take on either No. 8 St. Thomas or No. 9 Pelham in the quarterfinals.

### Division III

The NHIAA is experimenting the possibility of open tournaments in several Division III sports, so any team that wished to participate was allowed to. Play-in games took place last Friday to determine the final eight teams for the preliminary round of playoff games. No. 19 Stevens was the only lower seed to pull off an upset, beating No. 14 Hillsboro-Deering 2-1.

Gilford is the No. 1 seed and will take on No. 16 Raymond, which defeated No. 17 Winnisquam 4-0 in a play-in game, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The winner will face the winner of No. 8 Berlin and No. 9 White Mountains in the quarterfinals; White Mountains defeated No. 24 Conant 3-0 in a play-in game.

Also on that side of the bracket, No. 4 Prospect Mountain and No. 13 Belmont, a 3-1 winner over No. 20 Mascenic in a play-in game, will meet in the preliminary round. The winner of that game will take on the winner of No. 5 Kearsarge and No. 12 Inter-Lakes in the quarterfinals; Inter-Lakes knocked off No. 21 Farmington 10-1 in a play-in game.

Bow earned the No. 2 seed and will host No. 15 Newfound in a preliminary-round game. Newfound defeated No. 18 Monadnock 1-0 in a play-in game. The winner of Bow-Newfound will face the winner of No. 7 Hopkinton and No. 10 Mascoma in the quarterfinals; Mascoma topped No. 23 Kingswood 2-1 in a play-in game.

No. 3 Somersworth will host No. 19 Stevens in the preliminary round, with the winner advancing to face either No. 6 Fall Mountain or No. 11 Campbell in the quarterfinals. Campbell knocked off No. 22 Franklin 12-1 in a play-in game.

All quarterfinal games are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday.

### Division IV

Wilton-Lyndeborough earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament that starts on Tuesday. The Warriors (13-2-1) will host No. 13 Newmarket (6-8-2) at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Wilton. The Warriors won both regular-season meetings between the teams, both by a score of 2-1\. The winner will take on either No. 5 Moultonborough and No. 12 Sunapee in the quarterfinals.

Profile earned the No. 1 seed and will host No. 16 Portsmouth Christian in the opening round. The winner of that game will face the winner of No. 8 Woodsville and No. 9 Hinsdale in the quarterfinals.

On the bottom half of the bracket, No. 2 Derryfield will host No. 15 Epping in the preliminary round, with the winner taking on either No. 7 Nashua Christian or No. 10 Colebrook in the quarterfinals.

No. 3 Lisbon hosts No. 14 Littleton in the first round, while No. 6 Gorham takes on No. 11 Concord Christian. The winners of those games will meet in the quarterfinals.

All quarterfinal games are scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m.
